Synopsis:
* Book #5 of Breeds series / Book #1 of Coyote Breeds series

Mother Nature has a way of making the most unlikely couples ‘fit’. And what could be more unlikely than a sassy, independent President’s daughter who doesn’t know when to keep her mouth shut and a loner Coyote Breed with a hunger for a cute rosebud mouth that he’s determined to still.

The vote for Breed Law is coming down the pike. Kiowa’s job is to watch Amanda, the President’s daughter—look, but not touch. Just make sure the Goof Troop, the Secret Service detail assigned to protect her, do their job until the law is passed.

But when they don’t and the bad guys move in to take her out, Kiowa reluctantly slips in to the rescue, snatching her away to safety. But she isn’t going to come easy and it takes more than smooth talking to make her see his point of view.

For a man who’s had nothing, Amanda Marion is food for the hunger that has tortured him, the reality to every dream Kiowa never dared believe in. What he feels for her is more than heat, more than love. She breathes life into his hardened heart, melting the icy chill that has protected him all his life, and touches a part of him that he thought had died—his soul. And now he’ll kill anyone who tries to take her away from him.

But the one person he can’t fight is Amanda, and when she wants to leave…
I went into this story blind, it's a Lora book and a breed book that's all I need to want to read it   This was perhaps the most difficult book to read because of the unfolding of events.  I know the men don't know what is happening to them and they don't know why they feel the urge to do what they do. Which I personally think is wrong because you leave people vulnerable to making mistakes like in this case.  I think that's something the Pride is going to have to start sharing with the fighting members at lest so they know what can and will happen to them.

Kiowa's job is been to watch the President's daughter because she is the key to keeping the President honest and she's being targeted by those who don't want the President to make the Breeds legal. That is the basic setup, of course things go horribly wrong when she's betrayed by a friend and Kiowa has to rescue her.  In the process he bestows a kiss to silence her and that starts the chain effects, Neither of them are aware of what is about to happen to them and much like she states it's not her who wants this it's her body.  Kiowa is just as much at a loss as to why he wants this woman he doesn't really know and why he needs her so desperately, but her does and they do and bam the story gets rolling from there.

Once again we meet Simon and his ladies and I soooo need to know his story and how he ended up with the Ladies.  Simon is the one who comes to Kiowa's rescue and begins to clue him in on what's going on; neither he nor Amanda really believe it and we get their story from there.  The over arching story of the breed nation is being laid down as well, as with the start of some of the mystery about who is betraying the pride.  We learn a little bit more about the Counsel and how they picked the women who carried the Breed children.  We learned more about the Coyotes and why they were able to be turned while so many others weren't.

Amanda both annoyed me and made me love her.  She wanted to be strong and independent of the white house but at the same time she didn't see how privileged it made her until she was facing not being surrounded by it's protective hand.  I loved how she took Kiowa to task, how she confronted Callan when she needed to and how she was the stronger of the two when it came time to make decisions that would aide them as a couple and as a people.  I loved how she was with Dawn and the glimpses of Dawn we do get to see, I can't wait to get to her book but i'm sure it's going to be so damn devastating.  Amanda has a vision for her life and she was fighting for it and even when she realized it has to change she was willing to fight for a vision similar to it, either way damn you she's getting her dream.

Kiowa's story was so sad and even made more heart breaking when the truth comes out in the end.  I loved who he was and the glimpses of Cassie and what she told him.  I loved that he tried anyway to give Amanda what she needed.

I did have a few issues, however the characters themselves confronted those issues so it answered some questions I had. I still enjoyed it and can't wait to read more.
