  29. Dangerous
I had to remove the following titles because they are bind ups of single titles on the list
  1. The Quinn Legacy
  2. The Quinn Brothers
Truly I got most of this done because Nora's books are now on Scribd and they didn't throttle my reading this month so I knocked so many off the list and I'm loving it. I'm loving being able to clean up this shelf of books and can't wait to see what else I get done. I'm so excited to share with you my thoughts on these books especially because many are backlist books and from the late 80s and early 90s.

How has your reading year been so far?? Getting anything done on your 2022 reading goals?? Share in the comments so we can all cheer you on!!

See you in the next one

July 2020 To Be Read Pile

My goal this year is 225  books, if I break that down it comes out to 18 books per month, with 3 to 4  books a week. Totally doable in my books, so as the proverb says, you can eat an elephant one bite at a time, so here are my first few bites:

To be real the last few weeks have been very trying and I haven't really gotten anything read. I start a whole bunch of stuff and DNF for now because I just don't feel the reading bug. Or the blogging bug or anything really, I'm just working on getting up and going to work on time. I do believe though if you fail to plan that you plan to fail so here is my obviously ambitious plan for the month, well see at the end where we are.

Key:
Blue means the book added during the month.
Red= DNF (Did Not Finish)
Black= Original Titles at the beginning of the month.

        February To Be Read

My goal this year is 225 books, if I break that down it comes out to 19 books per month, with 5 books a week. Totally doable in my books, so as the proverb says, you can eat an elephant one bite at a time, so here are my first few bites:

Last month I really just focused on setting up my planners, my vision board and my new year. I barely read anything. Plus, Scribd limited what I could listen to just 2 TWO books. I'm still salty about it.  It's a new month and I'm willing to forgive them because I'm only paying $8.99 a month and getting access to so much, but I'm still side eyeing them.

                  September 2019 To Be Read

Hey my loves, with Fall coming I love looking back at the year and seeing how I have done so far, this year I decided to look back at previous Septembers and seeing how my numbers look.

I have been going back over the past few years worth of tbr videos & lists shared here on the blog.  I decided I wanted to look at the books and prompts that I missed and see what I can add on my tbr for this year. What i found is I have missed 43 prompts in the last few years and 44 actual book titles that I shared. This year I wanted to grab a few books from these prompts and lists for this years reading lists.

                        June 2019 To Be Read:

Welcome back to another round of goals for June 2019. This month I'm going with a theme since summer officially starts in June I want to read all the summer books. All the fun lighthearted reads for summer especially the romances. I'm also going to read the books with Summer in the title.

My goal this year is 150  books, if I break that down it comes out to 13 books per month, with 3 to 4  books a week. Totally doable in my books, so as the proverb says, you can eat an elephant one bite at a time, so here are my first few bites:

                        Read So Far This Year:
                        TBR Pile 150
                        TBR Balance: 94
                        Monthly Goal: 13

                          Summer Reading Lists:
I'm talking all the books on my shelves with the title "Summer" in there:
                          • How to Ruin a Summer Vacation by Simone Elkeles
                          • The Summer I Found You by Jolene Perry
                          • Suddenly Last Summer by Sarah Morgan
                          • Secrets of the Lost Summer Carla Neggers
                          • Blazing Midsummer Nights by Leslie Kelly
                          • Big Sky Summer Linda Lael Miller
                          • Summer Days Susan Mallery

                          • Ferocity Summer by Alissa Grosso
I also want to read books that are considered summer reads from my shelves. Books that take place during the summer, books that are always listed on summer reading lists on goodreads, especially mermaid books. (I physically own all of these, so these will count to my Read My Shelves goal for 2019)

Welcome my loves it's May 2019. And my April was a fantastic month of reading.  not just in the number of books I read, but also in the quality of books I read. I had a lot of 4 and 5 stars reads and I'm hoping this month will also be the same.

                              LAW AND ORDER.
For as long as Samantha can remember, Hunter—a man as strong as steel, with a heart of gold—has been her hero. It came as no surprise to Samantha when she found out that the ranch-hardened cowboy who always protected her from bullies went on to become the town’s sheriff. What does surprise her is how incredibly hot he still is. And how much she still wants him…

                              PRIDE AND PASSION

And, lo and behold, Hunter still has feelings for Samantha. The long-smoldering heat of their innocent flirtation has grown into a full-raging fire. But when tragedy strikes, and their small-town community is shattered, Hunter vows to do everything he can to keep his childhood sweetheart safe. But can Samantha trust that Hunter has her best interests at heart…and that, after all these years, his love is true?

Ok, y'all know I have been a fan of Lora's writing for years,  of course, I snagged this one once I had a chance and I'm so glad I did.  This is a second chance romance and apparently, it's the start of a new series?? Heeyyyyy!!!

Let's look at the setup, Sam returned home to the small town that captured her heart. She's also back for the man she has idolized since she was younger. A veteran police officer in her adopted city she's visiting to put her grandmother to rest, and to carry out her will.  I absolutely loved that Hutner and Sam had a history but were always 1 to 2 steps away from each other. Just a little out of sync.  One of my fave lines was "Sam, we're in a cornfield right now". I cackled for a good fifteen minutes.  They had good chemistry and flowed together well.

I was intrigued by the mystery of the town and wondering what the mayor was up to. I loved how the mystery behind the town drew Sam in and put her in the position of wondering if she should move back home.  This also put her back in Hunter's crosshairs as they hadn't synced before and yet here they are now, she's grown and capable and they have the opportunity that they never had before.

I was horrified at the end during the woods scene because like Hunter I knew it would have broken Sam.  The idea that people would be so careless and greedy is always so shocking (and yet if we only look to the news now we can tell this is something that really happens) . I have to say as the story unfolded and the villains became known, I had to wonder at people's motivations. I especially had to wonder about the people in each of their lives, like her ex showing up and putting himself in the mix of things and expecting her to be happy about it. UGhhh.

I want to know more about Hunter's mystery friend and his team especally the woman that gave Hunter the peep show. Cackling at that scene by the way.

A few cons I noted was each time that Sam started to show some skill as a police officer, to question things, Hunter shut her down by seducing her. Now I don't know if he meant to do that each time, but whenever they were alone and should be working on the case they just ended up having sex. It was erotic and steamy but at times I was like Right now?? You think right now is the time for this??

As erotica, it flowed well and was very erotic and kept you turning the pages to get to those scenes, however as erotica that's supposed to have a mystery suspense angle they spent way too much tie having sex (I Know shock I said that. Lmao). Lora herself has written the Breed series which balances this at times good and sometimes they end up like this where the story kind of gets buried beneath the romance and erotica aspects.  I felt like necessary scenes were either too short or kind of rushed so that we could get back to the romance, and I wanted more of a balance.  Don't get me wrong I still enjoyed the story and can't wait to see more from Hunter's friend, but I'm hoping there is more of a balance from the second novel.

Have you read it?? Let me know what you think in the comments down below.
