Synopsis:
From the New York Times bestselling author of Garden Spells comes a story of the Waverley family, in a novel as sparkling as the first dusting of frost on new-fallen leaves..

It's October in Bascom, North Carolina, and autumn will not go quietly. As temperatures drop and leaves begin to turn, the Waverley women are made restless by the whims of their mischievous apple tree... and all the magic that swirls around it. But this year, first frost has much more in store.

Claire Waverley has started a successful new venture, Waverley’s Candies. Though her handcrafted confections — rose to recall lost love, lavender to promote happiness and lemon verbena to soothe throats and minds — are singularly effective, the business of selling them is costing her the everyday joys of her family, and her belief in her own precious gifts.

Sydney Waverley, too, is losing her balance. With each passing day she longs more for a baby — a namesake for her wonderful Henry. Yet the longer she tries, the more her desire becomes an unquenchable thirst, stealing the pleasu
re out of the life she already has.
Sydney’s daughter, Bay, has lost her heart to the boy she knows it belongs to.. if only he could see it, too. But how can he, when he is so far outside her grasp that he appears to her as little more than a puff of smoke?

When a mysterious stranger shows up and challenges the very heart of their family, each of them must make choices they have never confronted before. And through it all, the Waverley sisters must search for a way to hold their family together through their troublesome season of change, waiting for that extraordinary event that is First Frost.

Lose yourself in Sarah Addison Allen's enchanting world and fall for her charmed characters in this captivating story that proves that a happily-ever-after is never the real ending to a story. It’s where the real story begins
We go back into the Waverly sisters lives to see what their happy ever after looks like 10 years post Garden Spells.  This story picks up years after Garden Spells and shows how their lives progressed since the last book. I really enjoyed seeing the relationships and how the women found their happiness not in just in finding their partners but in finding their homes and their places in their life. Sydney came home to the town to hide and found that she could bloom her and make a success of being there.  Claire's business has taken off with success especially in her candy business, and yet the success is beginning to make her doubt herself. Bay knows where she belongs but like most people who a confidant she unwittingly opens herself up to scrutiny when she tries to share that certainty with someone who is lost.

This time the main focus is Sydney's daughter Bay who is in high school and has figured out what her Waverly magic is, she's able to tell where something or someone belongs. She's figured out where she belongs as well and this is driving her mother crazy. Sydney hasn't really embraced her magic, she's still hesitant to believe that her daughter has it she wants her to be normal and have normal high school memories and associations and when they begin to happen she is now hesitant because this means her daughter won't be hers any longer.

As the women all struggle with finding that sense of home once again, they also deal with Clair'es fear that her uncertainty has made her daughter too much like her father. Bay wonders if she can make her mother understand why she needs what she needs. Sydney is trying to save her daughter from her own mistakes and embrace the changes coming into her life.

There is a moment within the book here their elder cousin points out that the girls are trying so hard because they are attempting to make up for what their mother lacked, and it truly hit home how even though leaving them with their Grandmother was the smartest and safest thing she could have done, Lorelei's flight from her destiny damaged her children in so many ways.  The secrets we keep as adults to 'protect' our children only hurt them when they are old enough to understand.  By leaving them with her mother, the girls never got to know her and never even knew the simplest things that a child should about heir parent.  Without good examples, the girls are left floundering as they try to parent their own children and find their sense of home and family.

It's a wonderful read and I found myself returning to it when I should have done chores just so I could know how it all ended.  As the mystery of certain characters unfolded we learned that the magic the Waverly's have goes deeper than they thought and that history doesn't have to repeat itself.  It was great to see how the relationships between the sisters healed and how without realizing it their example influenced their children.  I loved seeing Mariah, Claire's daughter and how she simply accepted the strangeness that made her home the way it was. I loved that the house and the apple tree had personalities and had to be bribed to behave or to let people it was mad at into the space.  I loved the way the men in their lives loved them and gave them what they needed while they themselves received all the love the women could give.

It's a great story about love, family and finding and embracing your sense of self. I highly recommend.

Synopsis:
Fans of #1 New York Times bestselling author Lora Leigh's scorching Breed series first met Cassie as a little girl in Elizabeth's Wolf. Now Cassie has finally come into her own as a young woman, and she's about to discover the one she is destined for--but it is unclear whether her fate is to be mated for life, or marked for death...

The Breeds are humans altered before conception with the DNA of the predators of the earth. But although they all carry the genetic material of beasts within them, Cassandra Sinclair stands apart. A unique mix of wolf, coyote and human, she is revered by many--but preyed upon by others. She is fiercely protected by her community...but no one manages to stop her when she slips away one day to offer her body in exchange for her sister's safety.

The man she succumbs to surprises her by unleashing her inner animal in ways she never dreamed possible--and provokes her deep, furious rage. To Cassie's shock, he is the mate she has long awaited. She may never be able to forgive his deception. Still, as dangerous enemies track her, and as the threat of all-out war between Breeds and the humans who despise them hovers in the air, they must join forces and hold fast to each other.

But the passionate union between them holds a potential that could change the world--and some will do anything to stop it...
This has been a long time coming. Elizabeth's Wolf was the first book I read in this series and I fell in love with the sweetness that was Cassie. Due to what I read I knew I had to read the entire series and this launched my reading challenge for last year. I accomplished my goal and have been highly anticipating this story with each of the other stories I read.  As the series has grown and the Breed world has expanded more about her has been uncovered.  This has lead the world of the Breeds into a new direction from the beginning. Who Cassie is and what she can possibly do has been one of the biggest mysteries of this series.

Cassie has always been my favorite character and finding out who her mate is happens to be what I've been dying to know. I know I'm not the only one, we began getting hints several books ago and there have been fan theories flying all over the place and I have to say I have been very satisfied in finding out who her mate was and watching their story unfold.

Picking back up right where Wake A Sleeping Tiger left off, we are back in the world of the Breeds on the brink of war because Cassie is missing. She has always been the Breeds biggest weakness and their strongest advocate, for her to go missing and for more secrets about her abilities and existence to be unveiled has sent many of the packs reeling.

For the first time in a long time, we get Cassie's perspective on everything unfolding, as she makes a devil's bargain to gain something for another who needs he, she also sees this as a way to gain something for herself after always putting the health and happiness of the Breeds before herself; her greatest fears are unveiled and we realize the weight that has been set on her shoulders.  Cassie is Dane's daughter to the bone and despite her mix of genetics and the fact that she's a natural born Hybrid and one who was never in the labs makes her a hot commodity for many.  I could sit here and wax on about who and what Cassie is, but she tells that story the best herself.

I can't even go into detail without ruining the surprise on who her mate is so I'm not going to. I am going to say that this one lives up to the good writing of some of the older books, where the case and the intrigue is balanced out by the mating bond and the effects on their lives.  Despite the fact that Cassie has given so much and is friends with and works with Jonas there are those amongst the Breeds who see her as an enemy, and when they beleive she's vulnerable strike at her.  It's sad to see the disadvantages to mating with someone no one trusts.  Jonas once again has his hands in so many different pies and so many lives depend on his decisions, that it's interesting to see him so flustered throughout the story as Cassie tries to navigate being this Breed's mate and the woman everyone else expects her to be.

I absolutely loved that her mate just wanted her, not the Breed lawyer, not Dane's daughter, not Jonas' friend but Cassie herself. He saw her better than she saw herself and having realized for years that she is his mate gave her the space to come into her own. When he realized he needed her just as much as she needed him he began a campaign to win her and introduce some fun into her life.  I loved that they developed a working relationship before this and that Cassie used him as her one little rebellion.  It was the one secret she has and it was something only her mate could give her.

I really loved the reappearance of Graeme and his twin Cullen and their mates. It gave me such a thrill to realize we were going to get a few more stories out of the Breeds yet and I can't wait to dive back into the world.  With Cassie's mating, some Breeds who have been hidden and out in the cold have come in and been introduced tot he Breed world. An even greater enemy of the Breeds had been introduced and a chance to learn the names of the twelve Chairmen of the Council has been presented.

I loved how balanced between learning more about Cassie and learning more about her mate and how this impacted both their lives.   I can't wait to see where this world leads and how the stories unfold. I'm looking forward to the Breed couple we see coming up because it's going to be one heck of a story.

He’s a self proclaimed bastard with a double helping of lying asshole.

From the New York Times and USA Today Bestselling author of the acclaimed SUBMISSIVE Series comes the first book in a new series perfect for fans of Helena Hunting and Maya Banks.

Mia Matthews never thought much of big shot matchmaker Tenor Butler, but when she finds out he loaned her late business partner a quarter of a million dollars and no one told her, there aren’t enough four letter words to describe him. She’d like nothing more than to pretend Tenor doesn’t exist, but she owes him all that money, not to mention he’s hot as hell.

Tenor doesn’t see why it’s his fault Mia didn’t know about the loan. In fact, he thinks he’s being very magnanimous when he offers to forgive the loan if Mia closes her own matchmaking business and works for him for five years. But as he gets closer to Mia, he realizes two things: 1) he doesn’t want her as an employee and 2) she hates his guts.

When an old flame threatens them both, Mia and Tenor find themselves working together and are unable to ignore their mutual attraction. But it might be too late for these two romance experts to create their own love story.

This is a standalone romance. No cliffhanger.

I happily signed up for this blog tour because I read and loved Tara's previous work the Submissives series (when it was a trilogy, now it's expanded and I'm so behind on reading it). I fell in love with her writing and couldn't wait to dive into this one. I wanted a romance with a bad boy character with a redemptive arc and hot steamy times.

Going into the book was purely based on the author's previous work and the title. Yeah, didn't quite work out for me. Really because despite what the description says, Tenor wasn't really much of an asshole. He's actually a good guy and most of the perception of him being an asshole came from Mia's preconceived notions before she's even really talked to him.  They both own successful matchmaking businesses and they have different approaches which makes Mia think that Tenor is in only for the money.  Tenor knows about Mia and her dislike for him but he admires what she and her mother have managed to build, and when given the opportunity to aide them he does.  Little does he know this will come back to bite him in the rear.

Mia's business partner, her mother passes away along with a long time friend in a tragic accident. To compound the pain she discovers that turning the business side of things over to her mother may not have been the best choice. As she's trying to pick up the pieces she discovers just how deep in the hole they are.  And when given the opportunity to dig herself out, she would rather dance naked in the middle of times square during New Year's Eve, She absolutely despises Tenor, mostly because she dislikes how he does things and yet his matchmaking business was outpacing hers.

The two are thrown together and have to work out their issues if they wish to make their new venture a success. While trying to expand on the venture they take a trip that complicates their relationship because it brings drama, an ex who is truly terrible and brings back up feelings they both thought had been worked past.  Insert overly concerned friends who complicate matters, even more, a misunderstanding that could be solved with a phone call and you have a mess of things.

I have to personally say that on paper this book should have been my jam. But I don't know the execution just wasn't there for me. I didn't like it as much as I hoped. It's a cute story, but it didn't grip me the way I wanted it to. I mean that Prologue scene alone had me diving in dying to know how they got there and then no just lukewarm.  Not for me. I might check out the other books just to see if it was just the first book was too short or what.

They both had best friends that gave pretty good advice in the case of Mia yet her best friend wouldn't share what happened to change her life so drastically (at least not until the end).  Even though there isn't a cliffhanger the little tidbit she shared makes me think the next story is going to be her best friend's story and wouldn't that be fun?? I also want his best friends' story because what would drive someone to be that much of a jerk?? Now he totally deserved the title of a*hole.

I recommend this if the enemies to lovers trope is one of your favorites, and you're looking for a good contemporary read.  While it may not be for me, it could be exactly what you need. Happy Reading, my loves

Meg Sanders enjoyed her wild night with a prince and his bodyguard—but now she’s moving on. She has enough problems without borrowing the kind of trouble Theo brings just by being who he is. But no matter how determined she is to leave that night a fond memory, she hasn’t seen the last of Theo and Galen…

Galen Mikos's life boils down to one goal. Keep Theo alive. But as long as Theo draws breath, he’s a threat to the powers that have taken over Thalania—and anyone they associate with runs the risk of becoming a target, too. Galen will never forgive himself if they let their selfish desire for Meg puts her in danger. But it might already be too late…

Theo Fitzcharles might be an exiled prince, but he doesn’t intend to stay that way. He’s only concerned with one thing—clearing his mother’s name and reinstating himself as Crown Prince of Thalania. There’s no room in that plan for distraction, especially when it makes him forget himself the way Meg does. But after spending one perfect night with her and his best friend, Theo has no intention of leaving her alone.

Even if it damns all three of them in the process.

I absolutely loved this story. I read it right after reading the novella Theirs for The Night, which was a great introduction to the characters, and the base for the story. While it's not necessary to read the novella first I believe it's a great way to see the history and the chemistry of the characters. From there we jump right into learning all about Galen & Theo and where they are from. We learn why Theo's on the run and what the stakes are for him if he's not successful in finding allies or solving the mystery of how he was banished.

The story develops well with us never knowing if they were going to be betrayed, and by whom. As the story unfolds and more clues are brought to light we start to meet the other characters including the villain and learn some of his motivation.  And the trio are wholly unprepared for how brutal and vicious this man will be.

While we do learn a bit about the parents and the mystery that led to Theo's outing, we are exposed to even more questions about her family and why she did what she did against their advice.  We also learn more about Theo and Galen. As the story progressed Galen's history, & his reason for his loyalty to Theo is exposed and we get more form the silent giant.  The chemistry between the three is smoking with not just the intimacy but the bond they create as they develop as characters and deal with the fallout of other learning that Meg is someone the two men will do anything for.  Meg is a fun, fierce and strong character who needed to learn that asking for help didn't make one weak. She's out of her depths here but wants the men to know she's not here just because of who they are and does her best to keep up with them.

I have to say you don't realize what you are missing until you read a book from another perspective. I have read a lot of erotica books, especially menage because polyamory is my jam.  It wasn't until the end of the story that I realized how refreshing it was to have the two male characters find it completely normal to be sexually attracted to each other and none of them felt like it challenged their masculinity. As I was reading I realized that they never once had that fight of if they belonged together or not because they were men, there were fights for other reasons but their sexuality wasn't the thing and you never realize how much that is repeated in other books until you read a book without it. I get it, some men will have to fight past their ideas they may have grown up with and I understand questioning your sexuality. However, in this novel, it was accepted by everyone as normal and it was so good to see. I know I know this may not happen in the real world, but it's nice to read a story where being bisexual isn't something to hide, to be afraid of or something downgraded as only a by-product of the passion.

I loved the chemistry, the romance, fun and the adventure of the story. I also loved how much realness was added in, how things that I thought about where brought up and how this novel ended on a cliffhanger. My Gawd I can't wait until December to find out how it all comes out. Will there be a battle against the villain?? Where is Galen's Dad?? What will Theo's little brother thing of his stunt?? Will the people accept Theo's decree?? How will that work on the international stage?? I'm anxious to find out.

Highly recommend and suggest you enter to win to grab a copy for yourself.  The first book should still be free all over the book-buying world.  Don't forget to check out the rest of the tour ladies and gents.

Synopsis:
A "suspenseful" novel by the #1 "New York Times" bestselling author-now in a French flap trade edition. Nora Roberts delivers an exciting tale that takes readers to the depths of the Caribbean-and the heights of passion and suspense-as a marine archaeologist and a salvager join forces to search for a legendary treasure.
I love how Nora writes these books giving us a really good past and the motivation for the rest of the story, swinging into the present and sharing the adventure, and then the future with just enough of hint of what life to the character will be like to leave it open to interpretation.

Unlike the other romantic suspense books she's written this one is more of an adventure tale, it's gotten sunken treasure, pirates, villains, revenge plots and romance. What more can you want?? Reading this reminded me of Fool's Gold that movie with Kate Hudson and Matthew McConaughey. It was such a good adventure story and I kept hoping and reading as they searched for the different boats. I was so invested in the story and really wanted them to find those historic finds and even got so invested in the hunt for the smallest clue that might lead them to the treasure.  Nora writes in such a way that even if you've never snorkeled much less took the diving class you feel like you have and that you understand and that you are right there with them.  From the way in which Tate loves everything about the sea, not just the treasure hunting but the small details that make the coral come alive. It was just beautiful.

From the very beginning, I was sucked in with the past laying down the foundation of the craziness that treasure hunting will cause for each of the characters and the cost that being the first to find a sunken treasure will bring to their lives.   The story starts with a murder then we jump forward to this family on the hunt for two Spanish boats that went down in the Caribbean during the 1800s.  As they searched and they grew as a crew and as friends to family, the chemistry between Tate & Matthew was so much so that it was no surprise that they then developed into future lovers. I was so invested in them and the journey, I was overjoyed when they began finding hints of the treasure and as the story unfolded I felt all the joy, excitement, happiness then the despair that the hunt brought to their lives.  Even as we celebrated their finds, I just knew trouble was on the horizon but even I couldn't have predicted that.

As the story moved and we learned more about the sunken ships, we also learned how the loss of a treasure can affect each of the crew differently. I was so anxious as the story progressed and as they grew closer to finding the treasure. I grew nervous as things began to unfold, betrayals are revealed, relationships are lost and love gets sacrifficed.

I absolutely loved the story and the characters. We didn't really get a lot of backstory or much screen time with Tate's family beyond a few snippets here and there so I really didn't get a agood picture of what her parents looked like as I was building them in my head. Same for Bucky the uncle, I just had vague outlines of them, but their character as people came out when they needed to show it the most. I absolutely loved how Tate's mom came through for all of them in the end.

As each character develops throughout the story, and their motivations are revealed you feel certain emotions attached to them as the story grows. You despise the villain, are shocked by the betrayal, feel the despair and sadness of those who have paid a deep cost for being in the ocean.  You fall in love all over again with a couple that has managed to stand the test of time and you feel the joy of budding young love and rekindling of old feelings.

I was thoroughly invested in this story, I wanted to know what happened in the end so I read as fast as I could.  For me, there was no lag time within the story as everything laid the foundation for the end and I couldn't' wait to see how cold the revenge would be served.  I loved the big blowout Tate and Matthew had and the emotional upheaval that it brought.

I can't wait to read more from the Nora Roberts shelf now. I highly recommend as a great summer read.  If you're a fan of the ocean but don't want to get too up close and personal with it this is for you. And if you're a person who needs to breathe sea air to feel alive then this is for you as well.

Synopsis:
Meg Sanders has spent her life playing by the rules—until tonight. It’s her birthday and she’s determined to be a little wild and a whole lot carefree, at least until she has to get back to reality tomorrow. But the last thing she expects is to be seduced on the dance floor by two gorgeous men.

Theo and Galen are each incredibly sexy on their own, and potentially devastating as a pair—and they want her. Meg isn’t down for anything resembling complicated when her life is such a mess, but the two of them win her over with the promise of a night out of her deepest, darkest fantasy—and that they walk the next morning with no strings attached.

After all, anything goes when it’s only for one night…
I absolutely adored this novella, this is a great introduction to the rest of the story arc.  It's a closed triangle romance and I'm so here for it.  (For those who don't know that means that each of the menage participants have a relationship, so the two men are sexually involved with each other and then also each has a relationship with the woman).

We get introduced to Meg who is a struggling college student who is trying not to become the failure those from her town have named her. She's run all the way to NYC to accomplish her goals and she's so close to finishing when she's dealt a financial blow that knocks her back. To help cheer her up a girlfriend suggests they go to the club and she doesn't really feel into it even if it's her birthday. She does go however and that decision makes a huge change in her life and the direction she will take from then on.

We get introduced to Theo and Galen at the club and the chemistry is off the way. Meg wants them but the way her life is going they might not want her. As the story develops and we get a glimpse at the depth of Theo and Galen and their relationship I was hooked. I read the story in less than an hour because I needed to know everything and the cliffhanger??? Why yes I will be reading the next book.

The chemistry between all three was off the charts, and the eroticism of their sex scenes just drew me in. I loved it because they laughed and still had some seriously sexy times.  I can't wait to learn more about the men and their relationship, why they could only have this one night and what Meg is going to do about her situation.

Synopsis:
From #1 New York Times bestselling author Nora Roberts—an utterly spellbinding tale about a woman who, though battered in both body and spirit, can never lose Hope…

Tory Bodeen grew up in South Carolina, in a small run-down house, where her father ruled with an iron fist and a leather belt—and where her dreams and talents had no room to flourish. But she had Hope, who lived in the big house just a short skip away and whose friendship allowed Tory to be something she wasn’t allowed to be at home: a child. After young Hope’s brutal murder, unsolved to this day,

Tory’s life began to fall apart. And now, as she returns to her hometown, with plans to settle in and open a stylish home-design shop, she is determined to find a measure of peace and free herself from the haunting visions of the past. As she forges a new bond with Cade Lavelle—Hope’s older brother and the heir to the family fortune—she isn’t sure whether the tragic loss they share will unite them or drive them apart. But she is willing to open her heart, just a little, and try. Living so close to those unhappy memories will be more difficult and frightening than Tory could ever have expected, however. Because Hope’s murderer is nearby as well…
I actually saw the movie first and because of it, as I was reading I kept flashing back to the movie and actresses voice was Tory's in the whole book.  I really loved the movie and so I loved the book just as much, this was a little more fleshed out because we got to see the motivations for the characters actions which we can't see in the movie.

This is an absorbing story about a young girl with a gift that scares the adults around her so much that they abuse her. The system failed her because the people who should have stood up to protect her didn't and the ones that tried were blocked by those too lazy to challenge the status quo.  Tory was gifted with a strong empathic psychic gift that allowed her to read emotions and see when things were going to happen. This has been a curse for her because it's the excuse used to abuse her violently and on one of these days she witnesses the death of her best friend.

When she has a chance Tory runs and while she's gone she builds a successful life for herself and even falls in love. Even that falls apart due to her gift not working how she wanted it to. Running again she rebuilds herself in Charleston and then when she feels ready decides she's going back home.  From there her coming home sends a killer into a spree.  She challenges the towns' matriarch, reunites with the side of her family that tried to help her, and comes to the attention of Cade, her best friends' older brother.

Tory is trying her best to move on and confront the past on her terms. She stays away from her mother because she understands that the relationship was super toxic and she can't help someone who is hell-bent on ignoring all her options.  As she builds her store and runs into the past, be it classmates or memories of places and things, she finds herself trying to avoid Cade and his pursuit.  Cade kept tabs on Tory after she moved away and became successful.   He never got over the day his life changed and having Tory back in town brings that day into focus.  He's also dealing with the town believing he's going to cause their collapse because he's changing how the farming is done.  He's known his whole life he was going to take over the family farm and knows he's responsible for taking care of the town as well and he's trying to show everyone that organic isn't bad.  In Tory, he finds something he never knew he was looking for, and he's even more determined to protect it and her as the danger around her escalates.

As the story progresses and Tory and Cade continue to circle each other, the past comes to visit several times. Each time it brings with it newer information about the death of Tory's friend and Cade's sister. Faith the remaining twin is still struggling to find herself now that she's the remaining daughter and the one her mother wishes had died. She's bouncing from relationship to relationship and never settling down. Tory coming back into town pushes her in a direction she's not sure she's ready for. And because Tory is back relationships she took for granted are being challenged.

I loved the story. I got so absorbed into the story that time flew by and I didn't even notice.  I do have to say I docked it a star for the description of the Sheriff Carl D. because when you read other books by Nora whenever she describes an older man she generally does it in a nicer way, Normally when she's saying that the person isn't classical handsome she does in a way to make you know they are interesting to look at anyway and handsome in their own way, nope not for the black guy. Even the town drunk was described better. O-o

Despite her abysmal description of the town's sheriff, he did a fantastic job being sheriff and even knew when to have a pissing contest with the Feds and when to use them to keep his town safe. Which I greatly appreciated. That's one of my pet peeves when the local law wants to pretend they can do it all on their own. Like no, get help when you need it.

Even though I had seen the movie I had forgotten who the villain was and up until the reveal kept going back and forth between two or three characters.  I really enjoyed and would recommend for the mystery lovers out there.  Do be warned sexual violence is discussed as well as predatory behavior.

    Synopsis:
#1 New York Times-bestselling author Nora Roberts takes us deep into the rugged Black Hills of South Dakota, where the shadows keep secrets, hunters stalk the land, and a childhood friendship matures into an adult passion.Asummer at his grandparents' South Dakota ranch is not eleven-year-old Cooper Sullivan's idea of a good time. But things are a bit more bearable now that he's discovered the neighbor girl, Lil Chance, and her homemade batting cage. Even horseback riding isn't as awful as Coop thought it would be.

Each year, with Coop's annual summer visit, their friendship deepens from innocent games to stolen kisses, but there is one shared experience that will forever haunt them: the terrifying discovery of a hiker's body.As the seasons change and the years roll, Lil stays steadfast to her dreams of becoming a wildlife biologist and protecting her family land, while Coop struggles with his father's demand that he attend law school and join the family firm. Twelve years after they last walked together hand in hand, fate has brought them back to the Black Hills when the people and things they hold most dear need them most.

An investigator in New York, Coop recently left his fastpaced life to care for his aging grandparents and the ranch he has come to call home. Though the memory of his touch still haunts her, Lil has let nothing stop her dream of opening the Chance Wildlife Refuge, but something . . . or someone . . . has been keeping a close watch.

When small pranks and acts of destruction escalate into the heartless killing of Lil's beloved cougar, recollections of an unsolved murder in these very hills have Coop springing to action to keep Lil safe.Lil and Coop both know the natural dangers that lurk in the wild landscape of the Black Hills. But now they must work together to unearth a killer of twisted and unnatural instincts who has singled them out as prey.
I went into this one like I do all the Nora books on my shelves without reading the synopsis. I was confused for a little bit but then I let myself sink into the story and it did not disappoint. It flew by and before I knew it I was hooked and reading every chance I got until I was done.

This starts off as a sweet coming of age story, with the two kids meeting, him a city kid who was angry at being sent to stay with relatives he barely knew existed; much less had been with and Lily being a town girl who knew what she wanted to be the second she was old enough to read and study.  She befriends him and wins him over because she had a baseball cage in her backyard, and they became fast friends.  Returning to his grandparents home every summer become's Coop's little bit of happiness and as he and Lily grow so do their feelings.  Before long they are making plans and racing towards adulthood, then life pride and fear steps in.

It's year's later and these two are finally back in the Black Hills having made something of themselves separately.   They failed at being a couple but they have succeeded in reaching their respective dreams. When an accident calls Coop back to the Hills, Lily is hoping she can avoid him, then she hopes she can just be friends again. Coop's not happy with it, they try and avoid each other, but finally, Coop confronts her and from there we get a pretty awesome story.

The unfolding of the mystery and what is going on takes a while. It pulls on their mutual history and then escalates quickly. The crazy of the stalker comes out fast. Because really he was playing an extremely dangerous game.  As the danger increases Coop andLily get real clear on their boundaries then break them and keep changing where they want them to be.  We see great female friendships and the development of another romance alongside their own.  I was rooting for the other couple as well.

The banter between Coop and Lily was awesome to read. They went back and forth and yet each of them conceded when it meant getting closer to the goals.  I loved reading about the sanctuary that Lily created and how she aided the animals especially the big cats.  I really enjoyed the friendships that were displayed and for a while was afraid the other couple wasn't going to get their happy ever after because of the crazy person. I was anxious to find out who it was, and then when we had an idea I wanted to know more, like why did he go off the deep end. I was anxious and nervous as the remaining pages dwindled and the danger kept escalating.  As the final scenes unfolded I was on the edge of my seat and trying to read faster.

I really enjoyed how the location was used as a backdrop and as a character as well.  As the seasons changed within the Dakotas it brought with it not just more of the mystery but a change in the characters as well. I loved how the development and improvement of the sanctuary also brought along a change for relationships that developed and even how the characters themselves began to change.  Nora's writing was very descriptive about the sanctuary and the Hills and it felt like I was there. I was completely absorbed by the story and in love with the location even more.

I really enjoyed this one being based in the Dakotas, as well as the fact that it deals with big cats, because for many a year I have loved the cats, with the Siberian Tiger being my favorite.  To read a book that features some of my favorite animals?? Yeah I was seriously stoked.  I highly recommend

    Synopsis:
Can two wrongs feel oh-so-right? This bride is about to find out—with the bad boy who makes an epic breakup worth her while.

Bella: I know I’m a princess. I’m used to getting what I want. But all I ever really wanted was a husband and a family. Unlike my sister, Sophie, I’ll never have a brilliant career to fall back on. So what’s a bride to do when she learns that Prince Charming is a cheating snake just a few days before her fairy-tale wedding? With my fiancé begging for another chance, the only way to save the wedding is to even things out with a little revenge sex—and local bartender Christian Jordan seems like the right man for the job.

Christian: If gorgeous Bella Bigelow thinks sleeping with me will somehow lead to happily ever after, I’m not going to turn her down. The guy she wants to marry is a jerk, and her sister is fooling around with my estranged twin brother, Cain. So what’s the problem—besides falling for a woman who doesn’t know what she wants out of life? All I want to do is whisk her away from that church, take her to a cabin in the woods, and act out all our naughtiest fantasies. And I may just get the chance. . . .

Don’t miss Sophie and Cain’s story in The Hookup!

I picked this one up because I had the pleasure of reading and loving the first book The Hookup. That was a phenomenal read for me and I needed to know all about the mess these two were going to create. And I wasn't disappointed, it was such a good read I picked it up late at night and didn't stop reading until I was done.

Told from the dual perspectives of Bella and Christian, we are introduced to what happens during the hookup, as this was taking place at the same time.  Bella is engaged to be married and it's the weeks leading up to her fairytale wedding when she finds herself with some information she didn't want to know.  A bit of a ditz, Bella is used to shaping her world to fit what she wants to happen and this isn't going to change, yet she has to decide what she's going to do, live with the unfolding story or move on. She's a woman who isn't used to making her own choices that would be deemed 'selfish' she's a people pleaser who is caught between her needs and what is expected & so this decision really throws her for a loop.

Christian is still trying to make up for the biggest mistake in his life. He regrets his choice but he can't hate the results because he got his son from it. He hurt his other half, his twin Cain and while he wishes he could change it, it's done and he's tired of being judged for it.  As part of a local family well known for the trouble their father always gets in he's trying to make changes for son, so that he can be proud of him.  Yet he can't seem to stay out of a certain brand of trouble. Bella is the worst kind, but he can't stay away.

Despite what everyone sees and thinks of them, these two have some serious baggage and depths to them. Even I kept judging them and had them confront those judgments as the story progresses was pretty wonderful. I loved that despite it all Bella still has faith in people and in love. She's way more practical than others believe and she can be flighty and afraid of facing any kind of confrontation, but when pushed she can and will meet the challenge.

I loved the journey these two went on. I loved reading as they developed a friendship somewhat and then when they crossed the lines into more. Bella was a weird mix of confident and shy and when she tried to change what she thought was wrong with her had me cracking up.  I loved that she called herself a prude and confronted that. I loved that Christian was such an amazing guy who helped her confront her fears and was very honest with her about he wanted; because he did that it allowed her to confront her own desires and needs.  It was pretty amazing to read. Holy moly their intimate scenes were just smoking hot, while also being sweet and funny because Christian made the moments fun for her as well.

I really enjoyed that for Bella she knew she was considered a throwback because she has always wanted to be a mother and yet she was comfortable with that.  When she decides to go after what she deserves it's amazing to read. I loved how she confronts her fiance and even how she handles Christian when he gets out of line.

My favorite moment came when she was in the pharmacy and faced a moment we have all dreaded when the pharmacist can't tone down the volume when telling you about the side effects of your meds. I laughed because been there and know the feeling. I loved what happened next especially because her sister is so upfront and funny while being real.

A fun and refreshing read. I flew through it and really loved when they had their real moments along with their funny moments.  I would really love more from the family and really would love their sisters' story. I recommend highly my loves.

Ivan Resnova wants nothing more than to escape his hard, brutal past. Starting over is not so easy once you’ve been a powerful crime boss but now, instead of being punished for his alleged crimes, Ivan fears that the one woman he can’t forget is in danger of paying the price.

Crimsyn “Syn” Delaney thought the danger she’d faced was over, and that she could resume her life. She never imagined it would return with a vengeance and throw her back into Ivan’s world. But when an attempt is made on her life, she needs Ivan more than ever to keep her safe—even if she is in danger of falling deeply and dangerously in love. . .

“Leigh’s books can scorch the ink off the page.”—RT Book Reviews
This was one of my most anticipated books of the year and I'm so glad I got to read it. Oh my gosh this was good. I do wish that the mix of personal relationship building and the mystery of who and why they wanted to go after Journey was more equal, this focused more on Journey's relationship with Ivan and how that threw a wrench in other people's plans. I wanted a bit more about the family that surrounded her and how they got the way they did.

Having read the first book in the Brute force series I was ready for this, Dagger's edge picks up after the events of Collision Point, which focused on Ivan's daughter and her second chance at a life with her man. In Dagger's Edge we learn that Ivan's daughter was a setup for his father who is a brutal monster to control him, and when he couldn't he tried to betray his son in the worst way possible which forced Ivan into becoming an even bigger monster to protect his daughter and the innocents around him.  Journey's father is one of the men who have it out for Ivan, because they can't control him they too strike out at him, using Journey and Amara as pawns in their brutal game.

Realizing she will never be protected by those she calls family Journey runs away and tried to make it on her own.  There are forces bent on making sure she never gets away however and as she runs they hunt her as fiercely as Ivan's men are trying to protect her.  Even though Journey knows Ivan would be the best one to protect her she's afraid of him realizing who she is and so she runs from him too.

I loved the back and forth between them, with Journey learning to stand up to him and yet defer when it comes to a life or death situation. While she's crafty and street smart enough to stay one step ahead she isn't ruthless enough to confront the men playing with her life and for this she needs Ivan.  Ivan has spent his whole life fighting and other than his daughter Amara no one has ever been solely in his corner because they needed him alone. Journey is becoming a weakness and yet also his reason to try for more for himself as well.

I absolutely enjoyed their intimate scene because my gawds did they burn up the sheets. I loved their interplay when talking and how Ivan tried to win arguments. Journey was learning so much about who she wanted to be and what she wanted from life even if she didn't think she would survive the coming battles, she wanted a small slice of happiness while she was here.   I loved his relationship with his friends and advisors and even with his daughter Amara.

The action when there was some was fast paced and hooked you, it was like a well-played chess game, moves were being made that clearly lined events up and setup moves and people far beyond the small scene we were seeing. Getting snippets from the other players in the game certainly made you more invested in knowing what was happening because while it was happening off screen you knew it was going to impact Journey and Ivan as well.  I liked that Ivan was aware that his traditions were a  throwback, but understood why they were the way they were. I wanted for him to have the dream so bad and the two of them didn't hold back at all and reading that was awesome.

The unraveling of empires, the moves Ivan and Journey made that put so many out of the game made me enjoy this one immensely. I can't wait to see who it is that brings down her former fiance. I want to see more about the crime families and how they could allow what was happening to their children to continue. I need to read the Elite Ops books that launched this and really get to know all the characters we're being introduced to because I'm sure it would make the stories even richer.

As an aside I liked that Ivan clarified why his daughter and Journey are so close in age. I also liked that he was aware that the age difference does impact them somewhat. He knew her when she was a teen and wanted to help her find her way, not sexually (which I'm glad he stated) but he found her fascinating because she so clearly didn't want to be there (at whichever event her father forced her to attend) that he wanted to help make it less awkward for her. Him doing something so nice when he didn't have to led to her idolizing him, which I can totally understand.  This was the beginning of them, and even though reality shattered several of her dreams about Ivan, Ivan himself lived up to more than she expected. As for Ivan realizing this young woman had bloomed into a fun, smart, loving woman despite her family's attempt to destroy her, made him wish for more and become determined to fight for it.
