I have a valid excuse I swear!! My eye doctor was leaving the practice and it was my final appointment with him and since I had to be there for the full eye exam (if you have a specialist you know these appointments take time, because dilation, and then exam after exam and field test and blah blah blah) I had to be there for an extra three hours after dilation before I could go home. Where else would I spend the time but at the library across form the street???

Men Cry in the Dark by Michael Baisden. This was huge when I was in college, I had a copy before but didn't get a chance to read it before I unhauled it when I was moving a few years ago and now I want to check it out.

Undeniable by Ingrid Monique. Literally picked it up because of the cover, another for my pile.

Measure of a Man by Adrianne Bryd. Name recognition. I love to pick her work up all the time. 

Make Me Hot by Marisa Monteilh

Worth The Wait by Katherine D Jones. Totally a cover buy.

In My Dreams by Monica Jackson. Again purchased because of the author's name.

A Resolution of Love by Jacqueline Thomas. Another cover buy.

I already hauled this one so I'm listing it on Paperbackswap;  Law and disorder from Heather Graham. As soon as I got it home I was like I bet I have this and sure enough. UGH

Oh Naughty Night by Leslie Kelly  Because you can never have enough christmas/holiday/Yule books on the shelves.

I Burn For You (Primes 1)  by Susan Sizemore. I had snagged the others in this series recently and didn't take this one when I saw it the first time but I made it a mission to have it so when I went back, I was excited to see it there.

Tallchief Homecoming (Tallchief 8) by Cait London. I used to have this entire collection and due to phase in my life I got rid of it. I'm going to try to collect them again.

The Grand Finale by Janet Evanovich. I loved her previous series and I love picking up her collection randomly because she's good for Rom Com and cozy mysteries. 

and my favorite things out of all of the haul is AFROAMERICAN FOLKLORE ANTHOLOGY.

I haven't shared in a while all the ebooks I've gotten in the'mail' recently and I thought it best to share before they grew anymore. I've recently gotten a few ARCs (advanced reader copies) and I'm so excited to check them out. Let's see what we got:

Rebekah had an open call for reviewers on her twitter and I jumped at the chance to read her newest title and my gawd am I glad I did. I can't wait to snag a physical copy for my shelves!!

and then one of my favorite authors reached out to me with a new book coming out soon so I, of course, said yes. I'm still not sure what it's about and guess what I don't care!!

The rest of these I received the NetGalley widgets from the publishers to read and review these babies and I can't wait to share my thoughts on them once I have them read. I grabbed a variety from Holiday romance to some contemporary romance.

Let's start with Brenda Jackson's upcoming title in the Catalina Cove series: Finding Home Again. Just know you're going to see this be hauled again once it comes out on October 29th so I can have a copy for my shelves.

I  was so happy when I got the link for American Love Story (Dreamers 3) by Adriana Herrera. Due out Oct 7th in ebook and Oct 29th in physical form. I've also already ordered this so expect another haul soon.

Next, I received the synopsis of this one and it sounded so good I had to have it. The Curious Heart of Ailsa Rae by Stephanie Butland, Due out October 29th

Lush Money (Filthy Rich 1) by Angelina M Lopez also sounded awesome and that one is due out October 14th.

Then I snagged a few cowboy romances:

A Cowboy Like You (Heart of Texas 4) by Donna Grant. Due out November 26th

Once Upon A Cowboy Christmas (River Ranch 3) by Soraya Lane which is due on October 29th.

And then I snagged a historical romance by Olivia Drake called Forever My Duke (Unlikely Duchesses 2) which comes out December 31st.

Weekly Reading Wrap Up (October 7th- October 11th)

It's the end of the week and I wanted to share with you all the things I've read this week so far, and since I didn't do one for the beginning of the month I'm going to add it in here too.

This week was a great reading week for me. I got so into Seressia's writing that I finished another of her series (this time in ebook format). I owned the first book in the Sons of Anubis series and then borrowed the rest from Hoopla. And I purchased (yes I know I'm supposed to be holding off on buying books but when she said it was on sale I couldn't pass it up) Anaconda by Jamila Jasper.

So let's talk about my reading since the beginning of the month, I've kinda been floundering on what to read, I've picked up several books but I hadn't found anything to grab my attention so I kept trying to read different books. 

I read Xeni: A Marriage of Incovenicen by Rebekah Weatherspoon,  and loved this contemporary romance. Then dived into several others that I have since put on the back burner while I try to find the perfect book to read.

Then I snagged: ANACONDA by Jamila Jasper, which is a quick erotic 'reverse harem' read which was very interesting as it's told in parts and now I need to get the rest.

Then I gave in and grabbed more from the world of Seressia Glass. I owned the first book: and decided that I needed to know what this world was about and I wasn't disappointed at all; starting with SEDUCING THE JACKAL (Son of Anubis 1)  this was a short paranormal erotic read about enemies to lovers. Then, of course, I needed the rest of the books in my life, so I read (I accidentally read them out of order but whatevs)

CLAIMING THE JACKAL (Sons of Anubis 3) which is also an enemy to lovers erotic romance that was so emotional that made me fall in love with the characters.

And my final read for the week was HUNTING THE JACKAL which is a polyamorous erotic romance that I was so here for!!! It's exactly what I needed in my life.

And that's what I've read so far this week, I only owned one book off this list so even though I've read a few books only one counts towards the reading my own shelves challenge.

I'm currently in the middle of like six books and not sure what I'm reading for the weekend. I'm listening to Witchling by Yasmine Galenorn right now and enjoying that. I'm also physically reading The Halloween Tree by Ray Bradbury, as well as Forged in Desire (The Protectors 1) by Brenda Jackson and Heart of Evil ( Krewe of Hunters 2) by Heather Graham.

2019 Spooky TBR

Hi my loves since it's October, I thought I would challenge myself to read from the paranormal bookshelf that I have been severely neglecting so far this year.  With so many choices I decided I didn't want to tie myself down to specific books because as we know the second I do that, I rebel and don't follow through so instead I have a few prompts that will aide me in picking a few good reads this month.  This to be read pile has been running since Sept 15 to Nov 7th.

There is also a Samhain WitchAthon taking place from October 24th to the 31st. Here are the prompts:

•  Samhain is a time for honoring your ancestors... so once again, pick a book that features your heritage.
•  This Sabbat is a time when the veil is thinnest, pick a book that features communing with the dead... (ghosts or mediumship or necromancy)
• We are heading into the darkest part of the year... Pick a book that promises to be dark & twisted.
• Witches often make offerings to spirit guides or gods... Pick a book that involves a pantheon of deities! Sons of Anubis Series by Seressia Glass
• Dancing round the bonfire is a Samhain tradition... pick a book that has fire on the cover.
• Many celebrate the Sabbat as Halloween and dress up, post a picture of your costume and tag the readathon!
• Read Group book Gideon the Ninth by Tamsyn Muir ( I won't be doing this as I'm reading only books I own)
