Stacking The Shelves (March 2015) (7) Part Two

Stacking The Shelves is all about sharing the books you are adding to your shelves, may it be physical or virtual. This means you can include books you buy in physical store or online, books you borrow from friends or the library, review books, gifts and of course ebooks! If you want to find out more about Stacking The Shelves, please visit the official launch page!

LIBRARY
I used the library quite a bit these last few weeks and they haven't disappointed me yet, they have almost all of the books I've been dying to read and they got them in fast. Here are the ones I've picked up since last week, thankfully our library has a generous turn around time and you have two times to renew before you have t bring them back and then wait 20 mins to take them back out. LOL ( yeah I know all the rules, I used to live in the library for a few summers).

First Frost by Sarah Addison Allen One of my anticipated titles of the year Sarah's second book in the Waverly Family Saga is sure to be amazing.  But the price is kinda steep for a cheapo like me so library it is.

Complete Me ( Stark Book 3) by J Kenner This is the last book in the series and I just want to be done, nothing wrong with the series but I have waaay too many uncompleted series just hanging around. Time to finish them.

The Vincent Briters by Abbi Glines I own the second book in this duo and I wanted to read it.  I can't seem to find this one in the stores or on any of the outlet sites so library it is.

Sylvia Day's Ask For It (Georgian Book 1) These are some of the few titles by Sylvia I haven't read yet and because I'm trying to cut back on book buying (ha!) I picked these up at the local library.  If they are worth a re-read I'll purchase them for my shelves.

Sylvia Day's Passion For Him ( Georgian Book 3) I had started reading this series when I had Scribd but once I cancelled the service I couldn't go back and finish these books so, here I am thank the gods for the library.

Scandalous Liaisons It's Sylvia Day, that's all. I got it so I can know if I should add it to my collection.  here's hoping it's as good as the rest of her catalog.

Pleasures of the Night (Dream Guardians Book 1) by Sylvia Day. Yeah Yeah I know it's like almost her entire catalog, but like I said, I want to be sure it's worth it.

In The Flesh Lidia Dare ( Sylvia Day writing as ) Yeppers, another Sylvia book, same excuse. LOL

I had to have another of Carolyn Brown's works, I haven't seen anything new in stores so I figured, I have already read two books out of the quartet and actually own the arc of the fourth so finish this series up with this on which is book three Cowboy's Mail Order Bride ((Cowboys & Brides 3)

FREE

Take Me if You Dare by Nina Crespo.  Got this one from my newsletter, it was the freebie of the week.  Make sure to sign up with newsletters from companies because free books are totally worth it.

Shattered Promise by Jessica Sorenson was free this weekend on Amazon (not sure if it still is, I found it by accident last night and scooped it).

The One You Want Gena Showalter is one of my go to authors and she had this book up for free (another I found by accident). I have no idea what it's about Gena wrote it so I got it.

Dark Promises by Julia Crane I've love Julia's writing for a while so when I went looking to finish  The Coexist series I was happy to see this one for free. It's book one in another series she wrote and I figured I can't go wrong with a known author and free book.

PURCHASED

Given to the Pack by Abby Weeks. This is an impulse purchase that I think I'm going to regret.  I was in the mood for a nice menage when this popped up on my Goodreads feed, someone I liked gave the entire series a great review but I'm about half way into it and I'm thinking I'm never trusting their reviews again.  This book is full of what the fuckery?? If Amazon would let you return once you started reading this bitch would go back and I would demand my 0.99c back.

NETGALLEY/FOR REVIEW:

Every Move She Makes by Jannine Gallant, received as part of a blog tour event happening at the end of the month. I actually already read this and I can't wait for y'all to read it it was actually really good.

Death & Desire by P.H. Turner.   This is also apart of the blog tour happening at the end of the month. Oh how I missed mystery books, and these just hit the spot.

Yeah I got way more than I should have, but thankfully most of it was free so the book buying slowdown hasn't been a complete fail.  Next week though?? Yeah I already know it's sugar ton of books and I'm so excited to show y'all.  Check out what I hauled last week, Waiting on Wednesday

What's you get?? Anything fun, share your links and I'll swing by.Happy Haulin'

Format: ebook, Trade Paperback
Cost:  $4.99 or $12.00

How I got it: Borrowed From Library
Purchase: Amazon | Barnes & Noble | IndieBound
Publication Date:b  December 2013

Synopsis:
Her desire becomes his pleasure... Max Westin. Sex incarnate. She could smell it, feel it with his proximity. Everything about him was a little rough, a little gritty. A primitive creature. Just like she was. He held her hand a little too long, his thickly-lashed gaze clearly stating his intentions to have her. To tame her… “Victoria.” Her name, just one word, but spoken with such possession she could almost feel the collar around her neck. “It’s in your nature,” he murmured. “The desire to be taken.” In this game of cat and mouse, everything is an illusion but the passion is as real as it gets…
I enjoyed reading this book. Sylvia has once again reminded me why I love her writing.  It felt however like it was supposed to be a apart of a series, the world that was described, the presence of characters that were felt like they had more of a story to them; all of it is pretty interesting but it's listed as a standalone on her website. (boo Sylvia give us more from this world).

As the story unfolds you learn more about the world, the Council, the characters themselves give wonderful descriptions and share the why of it all.

I absolutely LOVED Victoria, she was one fun, funny and bada** woman, she refused to be tamed and made life hell for the men sent to bring her back in line.  Her constant challenge of the Council's authority makes them send one last hunter to bring her in. She's ready, but she couldn't have been prepared for Max.  Max Westin for all his knowledge wasn't prepared for the full force that Victoria presented, yeah on paper she was wild, but in reality?? She was even more so and he was looking forward to challenge. Victoria made Max crazy , she totally made him work for it, and Max had his hands full trying to tame her.

I was totally in love with their interactions, their witty conversations, the attraction they felt and it was pretty hot when they did interact *smirks*.  It however wasn't until almost the end of the first part that I really started to like Max, I wasn't sure he was a good guy until then and then man oh man, did Max show his real strength at the end.

In the beginning part of the story he was a bit condescending to Victoria and you understood why when their world was explained a little bit more and you totally understand afterwards.  In he end Max was given great challenge and Victoia found someone she could enjoy playing the game with..  What happens in the end when it's no longer a game?? Well You have to read and find out because Boy oh Boy some of it I totally didn't see coming and some made me want to scream at the different characters like NONNOONONONO!!

I really loved it and I hope you do too

Library
Be With Me by J Lynn ( Wait For Me 2) so it turns out I have this on kindle. But I've found that sometimes I like reading the physical book then going to the kindle late at night when I have to turn the lights out and when I need to sneak and read it on my 'break' at work.  So yeah, gotta read this after reading the first which I have on my shelves from BEA 2014.

Out of Breathe (Book 3) by Rebecca Donovan, this is book three in the series of books I picked up last week. I'm excited to marathon them so. I grabbed them from the library just in case I don't love em like everyone else because then I just return them and forget them, no need for an unhak.

Purchased
In Expert Hands by Lily Harlem.  I'm a huge fan of Lily's although last year I didn't read as much of her work as I normally do and i'm feeling the wihdrawal.  So when she sent out her monthly newsletter and this one sounded right up my alley I bought it.

Trust In Me ( Wait For You 1.5) J Lynn I scooped this beccuase it was #1.99 on kindle and man it is just the story told from Cam's perspective, it's still funny but I want to read the others first before I re-read their story.

Stay With Me ( Wait For You 3) J Lynn  It's book three and I'm currently reading it, OMG I totally now understandpeople's love for Jenn, she's amazeballs!!

Claiming His Beauty (Feral Breed Motorcycle Club 4)by Ellis Leigh.  This sounded amazing when I got the link from the newsletter, I went ahead and just bought it. It appears to be a Beauty and the Beast retelling which I love

Netgalley

Dreams of My Mothers by Joel L. A Peterson
I got invited to read this one and I jumped right on it, it sounds amazing. I normally don't read biographies for review, but this one is about a topic I'm passionate about and interested in so, yasss darling give me the book!!

For Review (Not From NetGalley)

Lea Black's Red Carpet & White Lies I've worked with the oublicis before so when she said I might like this book I thought why not?? So I got it and I'm looking forward to continuing it, since I started when I first fot it.

So I am doing my best to not purchase anymore books, but umm it's almost impossible to do that but yeah, we still have three weeks left in the month so I'm not holding out hope.

Cover Reveal & Book Spotlight: Better When He's Brave ( Welcome To the Point 3) by .@JayCrownover

I have shared my love of Jay Crownover's Marked Men Series and her newest series which is the Welcome to the Point. Man listen, Jay writes some great stories.  If you haven't ever read the series, then I'm going to link all my reviews below.  I have read them all and love them.  Jay's writing is the second author within the New Adult genre that I read that really made me love it.

Marked Men Series:
Welcome to the {Point Series:
  1. Better When He's Bad
  2. Better When He's Bold ( Due out Feb 3rd) Review will be on the blog in April as part of the New Adult Month.
I've been on pins and needles since last year because I got Bax (Better When He's Bad) and pre-ordered Better When He's Bold but at that time they said Better When He's Brave the third book wasn't coming out until 2016. 20freaking 16 y'all, I wasn't going to make it I needed all the books in my hands.  But they have since moved it up to this August, Yeah I immediately ordered it and I;m so excited and dying to have it in my hands.

Yesterday Jay and several of her blog buddies did a reveal of the cover and I'm so in love with it and I can't wait to have it in hand (yeah I've said it already but it's true) So Here it is:
In New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Jay Crownover’s third novel in her sexy, thrilling Welcome to the Point series, a woman’s search for repentance leads her to the one man from her past she can’t forget as they join forces to save their city—and the explosive love neither can live without. Titus King has always seen his world in black and white. There is a firm right and wrong in his mind, which is why as a teenager he left behind the only family he’d ever known to make a better life for himself. Now a police detective in one of the worst cities in the country, he can’t deny his life has turned into a million different shades of gray. The new criminal element in The Point has brought vengeance and destruction right to Titus’s front door, and walking the straight and narrow seems far less important now. The difference between right and wrong is nothing compared to keeping those he loves alive. To add to his already strained moral compass, the beautiful and mysterious Reeve Black has made her way back to town. This girl might be as dangerous to Titus as the guy trying to destroy the Point but he can’t walk away because he needs her—in more ways than one. Reeve knows all about the threat trying to destroy The Point. She knows how ruthless, how vicious, and how cruel this new danger can be… and instead of running away, she wants to help. Reeve knows that she has a lot to repent for and saving the city, plus the hot cop that she hasn’t been able to forget might just be the only way she can finally find some inner peace. With an entire city poised on the brink of war, Titus and Reeve stand in the crossfire—and it will take two brave souls to fight for the ultimate love.
Yaass darling it's giving me all the feels. I love it as much as I love the Bax cover and I seriously love me some Bax.

I’m supposed to share interesting details about myself so that my readers get to know me so here we go in no particular order: I’m an natural redhead even though I haven’t seen my real hair color in years, I’m a big fan of tattoos and have a half sleeve on either arm and various other pieces all over the place, I’ve been in the bar industry since I was in college and it has always offered interesting insight into how men and women interact with each other, I have 3 dogs that are all crazy, I live in Colorado and love the snow, I love music and in all reality wish I could be a rock star not a writer or a bartender but I have zero talent so there is that.
I love to write, love to read and all I’m interested in is a good story with interesting characters that make the reader feel something.

I LOVED this series, this came out last year as an ebook, this year they are putting them out as paperbacks. I never got to this one so I'm going to grab it as a physical book and knock this off my TBR list.

Adult Fiction/Romance/Erotica

Stealing Rose by Monica Murphy
People say the youngest child has it easy, but nothing can be further from the truth. Unlike my two sisters, Violet and Lily, I’m never in the limelight. I just work my butt off for Fleur Cosmetics and get little to no thanks for it. I’ve been pushed too far one too many times, and I’m finally brave enough to do something about it. Maybe my newfound courage has something to do with the amazing pink and white diamond necklace I wear to the party in Cannes. The instant those dazzling heirloom jewels touch my skin, they excite some deep, aching need inside. And when that guy—that totally gorgeous guy—locks eyes with me, I know this nice girl is going to be naughty. For once it’s my turn. My turn to say no to my father, to outshine my sisters, to walk away from it all—straight into the arms of a mysterious stranger. But what if Caden is much more than I bargained for? Sure, he makes me feel sexy and free in a way I never have before, but there’s something else I can’t quite place—something dangerous. Maybe our “chance” meeting wasn’t so random. Maybe he was looking for me for a reason. Whatever his motive, there’s no going back now. And maybe I don’t want to

Monday Movie Review: FOCUS

FOCUS starring Will Smith & Margot Robbie

In the midst of veteran con man Nicky's latest scheme, a woman from his past - now an accomplished femme fatale - shows up and throws his plans for a loop.

My sisters and I went out Saturday night (it's a rare occurrence that we are all off at the same time so we took full advantage and made it a double feature night).  We went to see Focus because who doesn't love the Fresh Prince?? We've supported him since then and we are going to keep doing so as long as he makes good movies.

Will Smith still got it y'all, fifteen minutes into his performance we were all for signing up with his crew and working with him because goddamn that's a lot of money to be made.  I loved this whole movie, we kept speculating on the girl Margot who by the way really nailed her role, we were trying to figure out her real angle and what was going on.

I got so emotionally invested in the movie that I was freaking out when she started freaking out. I totally loved the movie for it's witty & hilarious commentary, the all too funny and witty characters and the beautiful locale.  i loved the semi twist at the end and of course that "Oh shyt" moment.

I loved everything about it including the needing which I totally didn't see coming and we were trying to figure out how it happened when we left.  I hadn't been to the movies in a long time and going to see Will Smith's newest was a great way to come back to the movies.  I laughed, I gasped and I was like WOW!! Yeah it's a good movie.  a definite if you need something fun and engaging to make it through all the gosh darn snow storms (I'm looking at you mother nature)

Check it out my loves, and let me know what you think.
Enjoy some movie popcorn for me and I'll see you next week.

My goal this year is 200 books, if I break that down it comes out to 19 books per month , and  4/5 books a week. Totally doable in my books, so as the proverb says, you can eat an elephant one bite at a time, so here's my first few bites:

I shelved quite a few of them onto my must finish next list, Ill get around to them eventually but for right now I wanted something different to read.

We'll see how the month unfolds. How about you any ambisous plans of TBR Pile domination??  Share in the comments down below. Thanks so much for stopping by and Happy New Month.
