Synopsis:
One last chance for love.

It’s been a year since Eden last spoke to Tyler. A year since he left her all alone after nearly destroying their family. But Eden picked herself up and headed to Chicago for college where she found a new boyfriend—someone who doesn’t run when things get tough. She’s finally moved on from Tyler…right?

Despite their breakup, Tyler’s determined to rekindle what they once had. He’s restarted his life in Eden’s hometown of Portland, and he wants her in it. But when a tragedy draws them together, Eden must search her heart and decide if Tyler is worth the risk once and for all. (
Even months later this book has been stuck in my head. I ended up ordering physical copies so I can re-read the series whenever I want to.  I loved this one especially.  We are back in the world of Eden who is back home for the summer from her first year of college. She's just bidding the time until it's August so she can go back to school, her life had imploded back home and she's been surviving by suppressing all the memories.  Tyler who is working on his recovery ended up breaking Eden's heart when he made the choice to pick himself instead of her because he needed to make sure his recovery hinged not only on her love and acceptance of him but on his own strength. Which is admirable, however that left Eden dealing with the fallout of their declaration to their families.

I felt so many emotions reading this book. At the end of the story, I smiled.   I absolutely loved Eden & Tyler as well as their friends because they were amazing in this novel. Her friends were the first to really embrace them as a couple and they were the ones to push her to face her fears about Tyler and to confront him. And her biggest ally?? Man I didn't see that coming. I absolutely loved it.   Eden is afraid because she tried to go outside of society's norms and is now building herself back up despite the heart breaking failure. Most of this story happens back in Eden's hometown I loved how the cities played a part in the story & how each city brought it's own change to their relationship with it. In NYC they could be anyone they wished to be and that brought its own level of freedom.  LA was where it all began and that brings with it so much history.  Chicago is where she ran to recover and here in Oregon where she came from; they really could learn to be more.

Both characters have both broken each other's hearts in each book and Eden's left to face the fallout from their families.  In this third book, it takes a while for Tyler to gain her trust and they start again from scratch.  I loved that the characters learned that happily ever after is what you make it and that it may not look like what you originally thought you wanted.  There was so much growth from the characters int heir understanding of themselves, of what they would accept from their families and what they wanted the world to see.

My favorite part of the books came from their drive from LA to his new home.  Because it's how they begin to rebuild their friendship, which allows them to begin to learn each other from the ground up.  Both who they were before and who they have become since is shared in such a great way.  Once again Eden's dad's reaction is my least favorite part of the book. He's still mad at Eden and as an adult, you should be better at handling this when dealing with your child.  Especially because you haven't understood that she was too young to understand what was happening in your relationship with her mother.  Being angry at the child who once hero worshipped you for picking her mother makes you very childish.

Once again the ending wasn't predictable because the author has lied to us before and kicked our teeth in from the previous books.  But omigawd I loved the ending just amazing, very sweet and totally worth the read.  I loved that the series came full circle and the place that Eden originally ran to California from became the place she could be her best self.  One of my favorite parts of the story was Eden learning what happened to Tyler when he was away from her, as they took their road trip it helped to unravel the story is such an amazing way and finally we get to hear from Tyler as well!!!

A great story about learning to love yourself and trust who you are. It's also an amazing story about the power of love, and how it makes a person want to not just be better for the person you love but for yourself. Tyler's journey was very admirable and he needed to learn who he was away from all that he thought he had to be.  He first had to confront the past in order to claim his future, and it was amazing to read.

Synopsis:
Love has no rules.

It's been a year since Eden Munro last saw Tyler Bruce: her stepbrother...and secret love. Although they swore to ignore their feelings and put their family first, Eden can't help but feel excited when Tyler invites her to join him in New York City for the summer.

But it's not like anything is going to happen. Eden is happy with her boyfriend Dean, and she knows gorgeous, green-eyed Tyler must have moved on as well. But as they spend the long, hot summer in the city that never sleeps, it becomes obvious that those old feelings are still there...simmering beneath the surface. Will Tyler and Eden be able to resist temptation?

Did I Mention I Need You? is book two in Wattpad sensation Estelle Maskame's DIMILY trilogy: three unforgettable summers of secrets, heartbreak and forbidden romance.

Look for the companion novels: Did I Mention I Love You? in December 2015 Did I Mention I Miss You? in June 2016
This picked up so well from the first book and moved very quickly. We have a few who know but are keeping the secret, however now Eden & Tyler are far away from home, with no one who knows them here and this will allow them to explore who they are. Eden is done with her senior year and she's heading to NYC to spend the summer with Tyler and they are going to see where they go from here.  Tyler is in the city because he's working on the Rehab tour and he's been working on coming clean and staying sober.
"You know what?? Fuck It. I don't want you, I need you"  "Need " I echo. "Need" he confirms, nodding once, " I need you because you're one of the few people I trust. I need you because you saw me the way I used to be and you still stuck around. I need you because I'm in love with you Eden, & I have no idea how I''ll get over you"
Such an angsty story. I absolutely loved it. I also loved Beth, Tyler's roommate because she was so understanding and non-judgmental. She was great practice for them on sharing their secret.  This was so well written and again it's told from Eden's POV so we only know and see the things she knows and sees. Once again the city becomes apart of the story (and being a native New Yorker this made me love the story even more).

Eden's doing her best to go with the flow while exploring this relationship from a safe point and then after a while, she dives right in to see where it goes.  Tyler is still working on his recovery and I thought for a while he had replaced his addiction with an unhealthy reliance on Eden.  They are trying to find a way to be together despite what others would have to say about their relationship.  I love the growth they both experience and the adult consequences when they try to take the cowards way out one too many times.

I loved that the author didn't make their HEA easy. We have to in real life work at it, and so did they. I love that there was a song that they both loved that kept repeating some great advice that they tried to take to heart and that at times Eden got it and at times she ignored the advice that was given to her. I mean we know we should do better but sometimes it's just easier to do what others are doing. There were so many awesome scenes but I truly loved the rooftop scene *once I got over the fear of her falling to her death*

Several times throughout the book I yelled at Eden to get it out; just come clean, but she was so cowardly she wanted her cake and to eat it too.  She had plenty of time to stop the blowback but didn't and even kept her actions encouraging to the situation getting worse.  You really are the worst Eden all because while trying not to be the "bad guy".  So many times in the book my heart broke for them. I get where Eden was coming from but she made herself the bad guy because she didn't want to be the bad guy she kept putting off this important discussion even as she had several times to fix it.  Just UGH. Of course, then there is the ole' biotch who flies halfway across the world just to start things. Girl y'all have graduated high school and almost no relationship survives the first year of college  What is wrong with you??

As the story progressed and the climax came closer I knew there was going to be some serious devastation and fallout.  Their parent's reactions especially Eden's dad my gawd!! He lost it so badly, I just know it couldn't have been me because I would have emotionally kicked his teeth in. His behavior was the absolute worst and just made me rage as I was reading.  In the end, I was so devastated at what unfolded I couldn't deal and at the same time, I understood. I would have gone about it differently but I understood and was glad Tyler recognized that Eden couldn't be his reason to be sober, he had to be his own reason.

Poor Eden is facing so much when all she wanted was the man she loved.  I absolutely loved that it was not easy or perfect. I loved that there was fallout and that not everyone took it so easily but they are also right in their belief that it will look wrong from the outside; however knowing the full relationship it isn't wrong at all.  Also, we can't live for the opinion of others, we have to live for ourselves. This was a lesson Eden struggled with throughout the book.

Once again I didn't read the premise of the story and I've managed to not be spoiled for this so I wasn't prepared for the wildness this book proposed as to what went down.  I so didn't like the uninvited guest who showed up. I mean who pushes themselves in on a trip you weren't invited to?? Who does that?? Come on girl let go and move on...damn!! I enjoyed that the secondary characters were so well written that I hated the people I was supposed and liked/loved the right people.

Reading this I felt giddy, excited, nervous, and just all of the emotions especially anger. As I was reading I couldn't understand how Eden didn't realize that being cowardly was going to blow up in her face. Like girl what??!!!. I highly recommend this., I finished it in one sitting because I just couldn't believe all that was happening and couldn't stop reading because I needed to know how it was all resolved or not resolved. I can't wait to grab the third book.

Love is everything but expected.

Eden Monroe came to California for a summer of sun, sand and celebrities what better way to forget about the drama back home? Until she meets her new family of strangers: a dad she hasn't seen in three years, a stepmonster and three stepbrothers.

Eden gets her own room in her dad's fancy house in Santa Monica. A room right next door to her oldest stepbrother, Tyler Bruce. Whom she cannot stand. He's got angry blue eyes and ego bigger than a Beverly Hills mansion. She's never felt such intense dislike for someone. But the two are constantly thrown together as his group of friends pull her into their world of rule-breaking, partying and pier-hanging.

And the more she tries to understand what makes Tyler burn hotter than the California sun, the more Eden finds herself falling for the one person she shouldn't...

Did I Mention I Love You? is the addictive first book in Wattpad sensation Estelle Maskame's DIMILY trilogy: three unforgettable summers of secrets, heartbreak and forbidden romance.
I went into this blind (like always). I just knew several fellow YouTubers love it and I decided to give it a try. OMG, I wasn't ready. I so wasn't ready for the depth, the development or for the full-on crazy that this story holds.  We start with Eden who is angry she has to be in California with her father and his new family. She's still angry at him for abandoning her so this summer before she finishes high school isn't going to be any fun.  Tyler is currently drinking & drugging his way through his senior year and for him, this summer is also going to suck.  At the end of this rollercoaster, I fell in love with Eden because she was sarcastic as heck, & witty when she wanted to be.

At first, I was totally unsure of where this was going, the cover, and the bright colors didn't really give a clue of what this story entailed.  I was originally thinking this was going to be another painful Gossip Girl wannabe but oh nooo this was actually really good. I got hooked so fast and before I knew it I was laughing, talking back to the book and totally absorbed by what was unfolding.  This story is told from Eden's POV, she's trying to get ready for college, find her place in her father's new family while still being loyal and loving to her mother who has never abandoned her.  I absolutely loved how the LA landscape was described and how it played as much of a character as the humans. My favorite scene from the book would have to be the Hollywood sign scene, the description of the hike and the landscape just made me feel like I was there.  I just loved the daring hike up to the sign, and the trip of getting away before getting into trouble. It totally felt like something my friends and I would have done during the summer in high school.

As with all teen romances, there has to be angst, drama and of course a bit of the forbidden.  This book was truly about Eden and her growth as a young woman. She came to California to get away from the old her, & to prep for college. She certainly grew and somewhat learned to open her eyes to how adult relationships look different from the outside.  While there were so many things to enjoy about this book I personally didn't like Eden's anger at her father, but I understood that as a child she simplified it down to two choices, even though there were way more things that she wasn't seeing.  I also didn't like her father's anger at her, because at the end of the day he should have realized that she's a kid and she didn't see all that was happening. However, because humans fail at many things this felt the most real.

For me, the ending wasn't predictable at all because I didn't know what I was walking into. I knew I was a bit shocked by some of the turn of events and I absolutely loved that the author didn't gloss over the consequences of Eden's actions. This didn't go smoothly, her friendships and relationships were thrown into turmoil because of her choices and it was raw and real.  I really enjoyed the friendship between the girls, I really had expected it to be a backstabbing kind of friendship but it wasn't and I loved that it was a bit of a sore point for all the girls.  They all had insecurities and yet they didn't feel they could be completely honest even with their friends and this was awesome to see them learning who they could open up to.

Since this was told from Eden's POV we only know and see what she sees. this both worked and didn't because we only knew what she did about the secondary characters, we didn't know their emotions, take or feeling on a situation unless they verbalized it.  I went into this not knowing what to expect and walked away absolutely addicted to the point that I ordered all three physical books plus the final ebook so I could read at work.  I really enjoyed this one and all the emotions it evoked.

Synopsis:
When Shelly Brockman walked into his office, Sheriff Dare Westmoreland could almost taste the sweet, steamy passion they'd once shared. Then Shelly informed him he was the father of her son, the unruly preteen he'd arrested that day, and his fantasies turned to fury!

Shelly had returned to her hometown in Georgia to save her son from the mean streets of Los Angeles. Getting to know his father would be good for her son. But would being so close to Dare--the only man to make her pulse race--reopen a wounded heart that had never healed? Or, would this be her final chance to win Dare's love?
I loved  this book so much, I actually shed a tear or two in certain places because omygosh so sweet.  Generally I don't like the female leads when they pull this scenario, however she had a valid reason I understand that life and love are a bit more complex and grey than black and white.  Let me back up and explain.  years ago Shelly & Dare were teen loves, for six years they were inseperable and everyone in town including their families assumed they would marry, then Dare does the dumbest thing ever and breaks Shelly's heart and she leaves town to allow him his dream.  Now ten years later she's back in town with her son in tow and she needs his father's help.

I absoluetly loved AJ, the little mischief maker in the novel, he was such a hard nut to crack but on the inside was a kid desperatley seeking something more than he had been getting.  Shelly had been reaising him well until his size drew the attention of the wrong kind of kids and she no longer oculd allow him to not know who his father was.  I absoluetely loved that Shelly was strong and well educated, well connected to her family and a woman ho was well loved in the community.  She had resources she could use if things didn't go the way she planned.

Dare and Shelly made their son the center of the relationship, by hatching a plan that brought them in closer proximity and introduced him to the family without overwelhming him at the same time.  I enjoyed seeing the relationship Shelly had with Dare and the one Dare was forming with AJ.  I loved how in reading this book we know the hcaracters are black and yet their blackness isn't used as a trope or way to enhance sterotypes.  I loved that they would describe each other and love the tone of their skin without making it sound way more exotic than it needed to be.  I loved the normacly of the description of black love. So beautiful.

I really enjoyed Dare and Shelly getting a second chance on love.  They both were working towards being a good whole as parents and indulge in their sexual chemisty which burned up the sheets my gawd could they be inventive.  Dare was a great guy to read, I loved how he loved his family, how he celebrated their triumphs and had great friendships.  He was a fantastic character to read, but also one you knew was going to be an amazing role model to his son.

I really enjoyed how AJ came to know Dare not just through his mother's eyes but throught the idolized eyes of his friends and seeing how the towns people were with their Sherriff.  There is an amaing scene with AJ and Dare when they go fishing and I just had to take a moment and collect myself becaus eit was just so  kink you in the feels awesomeI.

Brenda knows how to write a love story and I can't wait to continue with their family.  I am glad that as the books progress she unveils a little more about each of the brothers and how they are with not just each other but with the women who will eventually claim their hearts.

A fantastic read especially if you love second chance romances.

Synopsis:
Delaney Westmoreland refused to let a mix-up in her vacation plans postpone the R and R she craved. But when she reluctantly agreed to share a secluded cabin with an arrogant sheikh bent on seduction, she found herself enrolled in a crash course in human sexuality. Unfortunately, commitment and love were misplaced pages in her darkly handsome mentor's manual. Jamal Ari Yassir had intended to school Delaney in sensuality for his pleasure, but his plan backfired. Instead of loving and leaving her, he became engulfed by an irresistible passion for his sexy-as-sin cabin mate. Could his convenient summer lover be the woman he was destined to share his life with?
This the first of the Westmoreland family saga and it starts with the baby of the family Delaney.  She's recently accomplished her dream of becoming a Doctor and has graduated and is gearing up to complete her two year residency, but first she needs a much deserved break.  Her cousin knowing she needs the break offers her his cabin in the woods to relax for a month and she of course jumps at the chance for a little relaxation without her brothers interrupting her and getting into her space.  Except when she gets to the cabin it's already occupied by Jamal.  Jamal has recently brokered an important deal for his people and his principality and needs the time away before he goes home to assume all the duties of a Crown Prince.

Jamal is here in the house because his friend from Harvard offered him the place to stay for a month, and he's not leaving just because Delaney showed up.  I really enjoyed reading their story as Delaney as strong stubborn and had a strength that was deeper than the Mississippi river.  She's here and she's not putting up with player attitude just because he's the only man around.
"Let's Get One Thing Straight Prince" Delaney all but screamed. Your body could be made of solid gold and sprinkled with diamonds --I still wouldn't touch it unless it was mine exclusively.  I get exclusive rights from a man or nothing at all."   Jamal's gaze hardened as he stared at her " I would never give any woman exclusive rights over me".
I really appreciated that Brenda wrote these characters the way she did.  Jamal is a Prince used to getting his own way, as well as a man used to his countries standards and mores.  Usually when Arab men a written in these romance, they are only Arabic on paper, they speak the language they may dress 'exotically' but the religion has been stripped away, and so of course are all the cultural norms.  This book discussed what it would mean to date someone from a different culture.  In Jamal's world one marries for necessity and to be advantageous for your family, and men maintain mistresses for their 'needs' separate from producing heirs.  This goes against everything Delaney had been raised to believe about love, romance and marriage.  So this of course leads to them butting heads quite a bit.

I loved that for a time within the novel duty trumped the idea that love conquers all, and personal feelings ere put aside as Jamal wished to do hat was required of him as a Prince. Jamal as a Prince believes he has a high standard to live up to in his father, and he's here in the cabin to gain perspective and to get ready to become the man he needs to be, Delaney challenges that without even meaning to.

I loved that the two of them had so much in common and that their chemistry was off the charts.  I really enjoyed their conversations event he ones in which Delaney sounds super judgmental, because she made him think and challenged Jamal.  However,  I would have loved her learning to humble herself a bit more and not think that her way was the only way that women could be happy as well.  I enjoyed that both characters came from healthy familial backgrounds and had great relationships with their families.  They were also both successful int heir own right and had pretty healthy perspectives as individuals.

While Jamal overall as a likeable & self aware character, there is a scene within the book where he touches Delaney while she is sleeping; yes he stops on his own and doesn't take it further, he even questions his behaviour the fact that he even did it wasn't OK with me.  This plain and simple was assault, it wholy unnecessary for the story because we already knew that Delaney desired him, we didn't need her to say his name in her dreams to prove that.  For that reason I deducted a star.

I really loved the romance. I also quite enjoyed the discussion of cross cultural dating and ho they would have to bend, blend, or change for each other to make the relationship work.  Especially because the cultures were so different as well as the social classes.  I have quite a few favorite moments, including learning all about a new "not so new" kissing technique; I as thrilled to read Jamal meeting the brothers and even getting to see all the siblings interacting.  I can't wait to read the rest of the Westmoreland family and their stories.

2017 Yule Reading Lists: November - Jan 6 2018

Yule Reading Challenge
November 1, 2017 - January 6, 2018

Welcome back to another year of the Yule Reading Challenge, here I attempt to read all the Yule/ Christmas books listed on my shelves and any ARCs I might have.  Last year I did this list and really enjoyed reading some of the books I owned.  This lead to me falling in love with a few new authors and adding them on to the TBR Pile but also made me aware of the awesome stories already sitting on the pile from those authors as well.

With another season on us I wanted to give myself plenty of time to really fall in love with these books, since I don't celebrate Thanksgiving I'm going to be going right from Halloween reads right into the Yule season.  If you would like to join in just share in the comments down below and we can work on motivating each other to clean up the TBR Pile just a little bit more.  Now onto the books to be read:

Books From the Stockpile
  • Carolyn Brown's Cowboy Boots For Christmas (Cowboy not Included)
  • Holiday Fantasy by Donna Hill and Friends Dec 2017
  • Naughty or Nice by Sherrilyn Kenyon and Friends
  • A SEAL Wolf Christmas by Terry Spear
  • A Bride For Christmas by Heather Graham and Friends
  • This Christmas by Jane Green and Friends
  • Under The Mistletoe by Linda Howard and Stephanie Bondh
  • The Secret Life of Mrs. Claus by Carly Alexander
  • Christmas on Mimosa Lane by Anna DeStefano
  • Winter Street by Elin Hilderbrand
  • Three Days on Mimosa Lane Anna DeStefano
  • @Home For The Holidays by Meredith Efken
ARCs That I Need To Read:
  • The Keepers Christmas In Salem Heather Graham
  • Christmas Brides by Suzanne Enoch and Friends Nov 2017
  • A Last Chance Christmas by Vicki Lewis Thompson
  • A Christmas To Remember by Jill Shalvis and Friends
Let me know if you have read any of these and should I move them to the top.  I'm sure I will find more in my kindle, but for now these are the ones I would like to work on.  The goal isn't to add anymore books to this list but to clean up the books that have been waiting all year for me to read them.  Any comments or questions please feel free to leave them down below, and I will see you tomorrow my loves.

2017 Monthly Reading List: October

My goal for this year was 365 books. It's October and I wanted to keep the ball rolling.  Last month I made  it to a 100 in the books and I can't wait to see how far I can get with the next three months.  I know I on't make 365 and that's ok for me. I just want to make it more than over 100 because I haven't had the best reading years in the last two/ three years.

These are a few of the books I'm planning to read this month:
  • Christine Feehan Book
  • Non Fiction Book
  • J. D. Robb
  • Nora Roberts
  • Erotica Challenge book Billionaires: The Stepbrothers, & Theirs to Take by Laura Kaye
  • Book from my shelves Second Grave On The Left by Darynda Jones

  • New Adult Challenge Book
  • Book from 52 Books in 52 Weeks Challenge

This starts my Spooky/Witch/Paranormal Reads for the next few weeks, now normally I read paranormal throughout the whole year, but some I save for especially the fall just because of the way the season and the books are setup they go best then.  With that in mind here are a few particular books I want to read in September and October that are for the spookiness:
  • A Little Night Work by Lucy March

Book #Review: Ink Enduring by Carrie Ann Ryan

Book Title: Ink Enduring (Montgomery Ink 5)

Format: ebook
Cost: $4.99

Synopsis:
The Montgomery Ink series continues with a forbidden love between three friends and a past that they can’t escape. Jake Gallagher knew from the moment he saw Maya that she was the one for him—it had the same breath-taking intensity as when he’d first set eyes on Border. Only life never turns out the way one plans, and now he’s falling for someone else...or at least he thinks he is. Maya Montgomery never should have looked past the friendship she already had. Now that she has, she can’t stop thinking about Jake and what he means to her. When a mysterious stranger from Jake’s past shows up at their door, she’s forced to admit that if she doesn’t take the risk of a lifetime, she’ll regret it for the rest of her days. Border Gentry walked away without a second glance once because of what could happen if he let go, but now he’s back and ready to see what he’s missed. He’s been on the road a long time and has seen things no man should ever see, yet once he rediscovers the broody Jake and meets the inked and fierce Maya, they’re like a balm to his soul and he realizes what path his future should take. It will take more than sizzling chemistry and a heat that never dies for the three of them to overcome their pasts. And when someone from the outside wants to stand in their way, it’s not only their hearts on the line…but also their lives.

I picked this one up because I read Adoring Ink also by Carrie, and I was like holy crap hot men in love and sharing their female partner?? GIMMIE.  So I bought the whole series cause it was cheaper that way.

I went in with just basic expectations of a hot romance between three people and I semi sorta got that.  I was not happy that the erotic scenes between the men kept getting glossed over or happening off screen or we only get small moments of intimacy versus the erotics scenes between all three or when the men are with the female character.  I don't know if Carrie was just afraid to write a scene that she believed her readers might be uncomfortable with, or if she just didn't want to write a scene and mess it up and have fans come after her for that, whatever reason almost all their sex scenes were glossed over in vague terms and mentioned as something that happened often in the past.

As a trio they had really good group dynamics because Border was the stronger of the three and kept making sure to check in on everyone.  Maya's relationship with Jake just never seemed to line up at the correct time and so they settle for friendship, with lots of tension, but at least they were in each other's lives, until she realizes that Jake might actually be moving on and that scares her into acting on her emotions.

I really loved how she talked about the men going on dates, as well as the three of them going out together. I loved that it wasn't just about the sex bringing them in, as they were a bit older and were all at the point of wanting to settle down.    I really enjoyed how Carrie normalized a polyamorous relationship, and yet discussed the unique needs it had.

I liked it, I didn't love it, but would still recommend.  Erotic Rating 2.5 Stars. Not a lot of sexy times on screen, but a few intimate moments worth reading.

Happy Reading

Book #Review: Ashwin (Gideon's Riders) by .@KitRocha

Synopsis:
The first book in the follow-up to Kit Rocha's bestselling BEYOND series...
Gideon's Riders, Book One

Lieutenant Ashwin Malhotra is a Makhai soldier--genetically engineered to be cold, ruthless. Unfeeling. His commanding officers consider him the perfect operative, and they're right. Now, he has a simple mission: to infiltrate Gideon's Riders, the infamous sect of holy warriors that protects the people of Sector One.

He's never failed to execute an objective, but there's one thing he didn't anticipate--running into Dr. Kora Bellamy, the only woman to ever break through his icy exterior.

When Kora fled her life as a military doctor for the Makhai Project, all she wanted was peace--a quiet life where she could heal the sick and injured. The royal Rios family welcomed her like a sister, but she could never forget Ashwin. His sudden reappearance is a second chance--if she can manage to touch his heart.

When the simmering tension between them finally ignites, Kora doesn't realize she's playing with fire. Because she's not just falling in love with a man who may not be able to love her back. Ashwin has too many secrets--and one of them could destroy her.
I went into this one right after finishing book nine in the Beyond series and I'm so glad, because that book was amazing and while it continued the story of Sector Four it also gave us a bigger glimpse into Sector One and this one dives right into the Sector.  Sector One differed greatly from Sector Four, while Sector Four was all things sexy, dirty and raw, Sector One is all religious, royal and most closely resembled the world before the flares.

In Sector One Gideon is the royal heir who rules the people while he passed the powers of the religious aspect of the Sector to his sister who more closely resembled what the people needed.  Despite this clear and open decree there are those who don't believe that a King would really give up power, and so Ashwin is sent in to infiltrate and report back the truth.

When the war was taking place Ashwin asked Bren for a favor, for him to hide Kora because he feared what he as a Makhai warrior might do to her, Bren did as he asked and no matter what Ashwin did he couldn't get the information he needed about her whereabouts.  He came to Sector One to complete the mission and in doing so discovers Kora.  He knows that what's left of Eden doesn't know his secrets and he can't have them discovering them now.  By being here he places Kora in danger she's unaware of but he can't leave either. Now he is faced with completing the original mission or falling into line and aiding Gideon which aides Kora; what does a Makhai warrior who should have no feelings but the desire to complete the mission do??

Kora was one of the most gifted doctors in Eden and as such she was made to work on the Makhai warriors, being who she was she tried to make life better for them, especially for the warrior Ashwin.  She felt the connection with him and wished to make his life just a little bit lighter, but the Makhai are not meant to feel, fear or express emotion, they should only emulate the ones they think others need them to feel.  When she ran to Sector one she was welcomed into the royal family and treated like a sister to Gideon and while this made her uncomfortable it did give her the ability to walk amongst the people and aide them the best way she knew how.  In walks Ashwin and her life gets turned on it's head because with him comes danger not just to her but to the sector as well.

I absolutely loved this story.  I loved Ashwin as a character because he's so lost as to who is he to be.  To get and keep Kora he needs to be more of the man he had felt himself becoming before the end of the war, but he fears where those desires will lead him.  I cried when it was revealed what Ashwin did to save Kora because only love would have pushed someone to that extreme.  Having seen what an Makhai warrior in love could do Ashwin protected himself, Kora and the Sectors by going back to the military and considering the mission first. Kora for her part could no longer face the mission, she believed Ashwin fell during the war and that loss carved a part of who she was out and she wasn't willing to aide in the destruction anymore.

There are so many sweet moments as Ashwin learns what emotions are and how to handle them.  As he struggles with the training, the conditioning and his hearts deepest desire.  I loved that he learned to tell knock knock jokes for her, I loved their first dance, that moment made my heart hurt with the sweet innocence and yet dance with the simple eroticism inherent with two people dancing so close.  We had been seeing Ashwin a lot during the final books of the Beyond series and knew he was doing way more than he was supposed to be doing since he's truly supposed to be an agent of Eden, so when I knew we were getting his story I just knew it was going to be amazing.  And it wasn't just amazing, it like the Beyond series jerked your emotions, made you love it, made you want to cry, and turned you on while making you fall in love with not just the characters but with the sectors as well.

Ashwin's struggle to understand who he had to be here in the sector, Kora's desire to aide him while healing from being a part of Eden was a great story to read.  I absolutely am in love with Isabella and her family, Gideon is this mysterious leader that makes you want to sacrifice for him but doesn't ask it from anyone.  My favorite scenes are when the sector comes together, when we see the Riders healing from their extensive loses in the war.  I absolutely love the temple and the Priestess there who sees so much.  I also loved when Ashwin and Kora are at the hidden bunker, those moments are the best because they mean so much to the story.

I love the sector we are beginning to see and can't wait to get more. I especially loved that there were so many layers & secrets not just in Ashwin's life and Kora's but within the sector as well.  I can't wait until we get more. I especially want Gideon's story, but we won't be getting that one for a while I think. It will be interesting to see how this sector truly shapes up after the war, who Gideon turns out to be, how they rebuild the world around them and what the sectors fate will be.

I highly recommend this series and the Beyond series my loves. I literally read this in less than a day. I refused to stop reading until I knew everything that was happening in the world and now we have to wait for the next one**sob**
