Synopsis:
They've waited a decade to come together. Long years filled with unbearable pain, and soul-wrenching torment that have changed them both and left wounds that have laid their souls bare. Wounds that stand one chance of healing -- if only they could stop fighting each other long enough for the truth to work its healing balm. Kane, a relentless warrior, lost more than his heart to Sherra in a night of mating passion that marked them both for life. But news of her death ripped his soul apart. For years he has fought to avenge the death of the woman he loved more than his own life, by revealing the deceit and cruelty of the Council that created the Breeds. But Sherra didn't die. In a cruel and evil twist she was convinced by her sadistic handlers that the man she had given her body, heart and soul to had betrayed not only her, but the child she carried -- and lost. Amid the rapidly escalating violence against the Feline Breeds, Kane and Sherra learn that there's more to mating than just the "heat", just as there's more to love than just the sex.
Now this was another of my highly anticipated reads from this series.  Having read Elizabeth's Wolf well before this I as exposed to the couple and couldn't wait to see ho it would unfold for them.

This time Sherra as part of the original pride and as a woman she had endured more than any should have to .This was a hard fought story because they have both been so deeply betrayed and did know just how badly or deeply it went until they were forced back together by their family members failing in love. Sherra's brother is Callan the pride leader from books one and her mate is Meri's brother.

This is another of the stories that focuses not so much on the couple; although there is a lot of growth for both of them, and a lot of learning to trust and love and letting go of the past was necessary.  This story brought us deeper in the Counsel workings and we begin to see how the world overall is reacting and how they are going about protecting themselves.  We see how the Pride is starting to form it's own society, the security teams, the building of their own town and infrastucture.

In this one we really begin to hone in on the abuse the women of the pride have been subject to in the labs, the emotional, physical and of course sexual abuse. In this Kane, who had endured for ten years without his mate and as made to believe she was dead, helped the Pride as a way to exact revenge for her death.   Once he realized she wasn't dead he fought hard to give her the space to come to him, while fighting the needs the mating bond demands, and still honoring her need to be in control since she's never had that option before.  Consent is huge between them and Kane makes it normal for her to feel however she is feeling while needing him.

In this one Lora really discussed how women deal when faced with deep trauma, she showed how Sherra deals, how Dawn deals, how each of the different women who survived the hell that were the facilities deal with their pain differently.  In this one we begin the journey not just as the individual women are learning but as the Pride members are learning as well, on not just surviving anymore, but what it means to thrive.

I really loved this one and can't recommend it any higher than that.

Synopsis:
Perfect for fans of Christina Lauren, Emma Chase, and Maya Banks, the anticipated finale in New York Times bestselling author Monica Murphy’s sexy contemporary romance series about three fiery and determined sisters with their own ideas about life and love. I’m in trouble. Again. And instead of facing my problems head on, I’ve run away. Far away this time, and no one can catch me—not my two younger sisters, Violet and Rose, not my father, my grandmother, or that witch Pilar who wants to take control of my family’s cosmetics company. Now I’m in Hawaii, enjoying the sun and the sand and water, where nobody knows the hot mess known as Lily Fowler. And I’m loving every minute of it. But someone is watching me. Following me. He’s gorgeous. And soon we’re talking, and against all my instincts, I reveal bits and pieces of myself to Max. It feels good, though I know he can’t be the man for me. These sudden feelings we share are way too complicated, too fraught, too intense. Then everything explodes and I’m forced to return home. My intentions have always been true, but now everyone’s mad at me. I don’t know who to turn to anymore . . . except to Max. He’s who I want to trust. But I’m not so sure I should. Maybe it’s worth the risk—and what-ifs be damned. . . .
The third and final book in the series, gives us the hot mess older sister Lily.  She's a media darling and also a mix between the socialites they love to hate.  Having done something she doesn't think anyone will believe her about, she runs off to Hawaii with the idea of hiding out until she figures out how to handle the mess she's made.

In walks Max, he's been hired to retrieve a laptop that his client claims is stolen, however we all suspect she's lying, but Max is more than happy to take this case on because he's become somewhat obsessed with the mark.  I loved how they were together from the get go.  Se noticed him and he obviously noticed her and from there we get one hell of a steamy vacation romance.

They have great heat and  chemistry and they both go into the affair knowing it's only going to be for the time they are here and yet as if develops they wonder if they had met somewhere else would they be able to work it out.  Lily especially wants to use this as a distraction from her problems back home and she's all for having a brief fling that will help her clear her head and give her great orgasms at the same time.

I really loved how as they hung out and had sex the layers kept coming off, that they became more intimate, stepped back from the games and began to really see themselves as well as each other.

Very sexy, very steamy between the two of them.  As Lily pushed the boundaries of what she normally accepts and Max learnt how far he could go while keeping his secret.  As the story progressed and e went back to reality and their worlds collide and Max's secret comes out I loved that Lily was strong enough to fight back and yet wanted to let him in. I loved lily as a character because even though she was a hot mess at times, she clearly loved her family, she just wasn't sure how to share that without being hurt.

The family dynamic and the relationship the girls have is good to see. I loved that Rose called b.s whenever she felt like she needed to and that Violet was still so strong and clearly in command.   They were awesome to see them all together working to save their legacy and yet accepting of Lily and her mess while pushing for her to embrace her truest self.

Awesome read, it went by very quickly.

Synopsis:
She brought him back from death and made him live again. Dash thought himself alone, a soldier, a fighting machine and no more. Elizabeth made him realize he was a man. Danger surrounds the woman his soul marked as his mate, death and blood and a treachery that goes beyond even his worst nightmares. But he will protect her and what she claims as her own. He was created to kill, trained to do it efficiently, and only a man bound to her, heart and soul, will have the strength to save Elizabeth and her prized possession. He is a lone wolf. A man alone. No pack, no family, no one to call his own until one single, innocent letter awoke Elizabeth's wolf.
This was one of my holiday reads in 2016 and I can't even begin to tell you how much I loved this one.  I decided to read all the others on my shelves because of this one and I proceeded to order all the other books I didn't have because of how much I loved this one book.  Luckily it worked out that I loved most of them, otherwise that would have sucked.

This is a story I was high anticipating  and I wasn't disappointed.told first from the perspective of the child, then the adults around her it made me want to read as fast as possible to see how it all came together and how it all unfolded.  In this we go from mostly erotica with the background story unfolding slowly to seeing more of the story unfolding, the different worlds the different clans and prides and packs being revealed and the many different ways in which the Counsel went above an beyond to have their perfect soldier.

Reading the beginning and meeting Dash and seeing who he was before we got to meet Cassie and Elizabeth, just made this so much sweeter.  Then seeing how strong Elizabeth has had to be because her 'perfect' ex husband was such a loser and bat shyt crazy, I'm so glad she followed her instincts because this story would have gone a whole other way if they hadn't.

For me this was the launching pad into the Breed world and then i went back and read the other stories in order to really get the way the world was setup.  It was good to see so many people come out for Dash, including Simone and his band of assassins.  This story flowed well, was action packed and kept me turning the pages because I just needed to know so much about the world they lived in.  Cassie was my favorite part of this story, her reactions to the man she had picked as her new dad, her interactions with the other breeds, her embracing and yet fearing her power. Seeing all the other pride members including the men from Meri's family come out to protect the first of their kind, as just awesome.

Still a strong romance story, not so much on the heavy erotica aspect anymore; but the overall story came forward more and we say beyond the couple into how this affected so many more and who else these scientist would go after.  This one definitely expanded the world of the Breeds and I can't wait to see what else is going on.

Synopsis:
He had protected her as a child, filled all her teenaged fantasies, and as a woman, he stole her heart. Only to break it. Now, fifteen months later, the news has released. The man she loves is one of the genetically altered Feline Breeds who have shocked the world with their presence. He's also her mate. The mark on her neck attests to that. The fire that rages in her heart and in her body further proves it. But he hadn't wanted her then; does he really want her now? Deceit and treachery, born in the past, now haunt the present as Taber and Roni fight to make sense of a sudden bonding. The mating of heart, body and soul as the man and the beast within merge; both battling the forces raging against the union and dominance over the woman he claimed.
The second book in the series, launches from the aspect of the little girl who was lost in the first book. A small minor detail in that one gives us the rich story we have here.  As the child rescued in book one, Roni has always relied on Taber after her rescue, her mother loved the wrong man and her stepfather is just terrible.  Taber has been her one spot of goodness in her life because of that.

Here we get more from the main pride and the town they've inhabited for decades.  Once news breaks it changes everything.  Roni's had to learn to stand on her on two feet especially after hat she saw as Taber's betrayal.  It's funny to read and see the moments that they are so clueless especially because I've read ahead and now at each moment where they made the changes but they don't know yet??!! Lots of fun to read.

This is a story based on the miscommunication trope. The miscommunication  was used in a way that laid the groundwork for more information to come out as they learned it;  and even though the betrayal as deep the way they worked around it was awesome.  The world continues to unfold and we learn more about what makes a mate as well as how the pride is dealing with the public fall out of being made famous now.

By going public Callan not only made them targets for the larger population of haters, but he brought the secret war out in front of the world.  Now it's harder for their enemies to make them disappear, but now they have gained even more enemies than before.  I'm loving how it's all unfolding and I can't wait to see more from the Pride.

The books are still very erotic and ohhh mama when they get together with their mates, hot damn.  The blending of the sci-fi and the erotica is done pretty well even though in these earlier books the erotica reins more than the overall story being told.

Still Highly recommend. And of course I will be continuing the series.

Synopsis:
Elijah Moon, his sons, his beautiful daughter Gracie and their families are trying to dwell simply in this modern world. Living off the land in rural Kentucky, they adhere closely to the words of the Bible. But there is more going on at their compound than either Elijah or Gracie realises. In fact, a man has been killed for knowing too much. When the victim's twin, Jake Baretta, arrives at the compound to search for his twin's killer, he struggles to keep his heart and attraction to Gracie to himself, and his mind on the job. Everyone knows the first rule of undercover work: Never fall in love with enemy.
I picked this up on a whim. I knew nothing about it other than it's by Dinah and I love her writing.  I started reading and I was hooked.  The very beginning I was screaming inside for them to use the solution we now know works and often use, I was so hooked the second I realized the nurse was going to do it and I just fell into this book.  Time flew and I wasn't even aware of it.  I was totally addicted and I didn't want this to end.

This was clearly written at a different time due to lack of cellphones however that doesn't detract from the overall story.  This is a story of revenge and justice and such a good love story. I couldn't stop reading, I cried a few times in this book with the characters and I must say I love Angie so much she is so wise and wonderful to her family and those in her life.  Just amazing.  I can't imagine what it is like to lose the other half of your soul but to still have to keep going.

Told in alternating perspectives, from the villain to the people surrounding them and of course the main characters we get an amazing story about one man's need to know the truth and a woman's desire to find her place even while surrounded by family.

Moving quickly; the unfolding of the motivation of the killer and all the action moves so well.  I loved how both men knew without a doubt that Gracie was a woman caught up in something she didn't even understand.  I was so saddened for the conclusion because to be family and put in that position all because one person was too greedy and too unhinged.

It's good, I loved that the romance was good and went within characters behaviour, I loved how neither of them were suddenly blind or stupid, they moved well together and separately.  This story unfolded with all the mystery there with parts being revealed to us then to the characters, and as each piece was found out it just built the tension.  Really well written, addictive and a fast read.

Synopsis:
Callan Lyons is a genetic experiment. One of six fighting for freedom and the survival of their Pride. Merinus Tyler is the reporter who will tempt him, draw him, until the fury of the "mating frenzy" locks them into a battle of sexual heat there is no escape from. Deception, blood, and the evil Genetics Council are hot on their trail. Callan will use his strength to try and save them both...and do all in his power to keep his woman in the process.
With the launch of this book so begins the Breed Saga. Callan, a man on the run who makes the decision he does only because he doesn't wish his fate on his mate.  The story very much reads like it's been going on for a hile and we're only just peeking in.  We get introduced to a few of the future stories and because I've read ahead a few books I know some of the plot points that are being setup already.  I still felt the need to marathon through the book and the others that came right after.

I loved how Callan was still clueless even though he's been at this for a while.  Some things in this life were still very new to him, so he discovers them while we do.  I loved the Science Fiction aspect and the question of what makes us human.

As the story unfolded and Meri was exposed to just ho wild the Counsel could be it made you hurt for the team.  Reading what was done to them, how the were 'raised' knowing that in normal society monsters prey on the weak, just imagining knowing there are no consequences if you hurt the weak and vulnerable?? it gave them free rein and I had to take mental health breaks because I wanted to rage.

I loved that Meri's family was close knit and strong and that her family would do whatever needed to back and protect her.

This is a great beginning to the story and made me want to read more. Even though this was a strong erotica, the back story being set up and the mystery were still strong.  The building of the wold and the unexpected betrayal are just so well written.

I highly recommend, however please be warned even though it's only briefly mentioned the entire series does discuss abuse to women, men, children and can be at times graphic.

Welcome back my loves,

We are sharing all the goodies that I got at the 57th Annual Library Book Sale in Southport CT.  I work just around the street from this library and I've been hyping this library book sale to everyone I know.  I love the sale and I know it benefits so many so I try to do my part.

Here are the goodies I hauled today, my plan was simple I went in with a general list of authors I wanted to grab if I saw their work and I knew which of their books I was missing because of my book list of all the backlog catalogs I want.

Then because my budget had some room in it I got a few books from Amazon:

I got all three books from the DIMILY series, I read this series a few months ago and I absolutely fell in love with the characters and their stories and the truths they shared. I needed the have them on my shelves as well (I got two as ebook arcs & purchased the 3rd as a ebook as well).
I also picked up a non fiction book called the 5 Love Languages by Gary Chapman. So many people I know have been talking about this and I'm trying to understand what is going on so I snagged a copy for myself.

Then I snagged a few ebooks over the past few weeks as well.  Including:

Honor Bound by Joey W Hill. I read several of the books in this series and I realized I was missing this one and I'm reading it right now and it's soooo good so far.

Happy Haulin' and Happy Reading my loves see you next week.
