Synopsis:
Book #2 in explosive new series from bestselling author Kit Rocha... Ana has trained most of her life to achieve one goal: to prove that anything men can do, she can do better. Now she’s Sector One’s first female Rider, and being the best is the only way to ensure she won’t be its last. Distractions aren’t allowed--especially not her painful attraction to the reserved but demanding leader whose stern, grumpy demeanor has already gotten into her head. Deacon has spent the last twenty years trying to atone for his past, but the blood he spilled as a mercenary and assassin will never wash away entirely. If his riders knew the extent of his sins, he’d lose their trust and respect. It’s easier to keep them all at arm’s length, especially Ana. But his newest recruit’s stubbornness is starting to crack his defenses. And their sparring matches are driving him wild. The passion sparking between them can’t be denied, but neither can the vengeance barreling toward Deacon. When his old squad comes back to punish him for his betrayal, Ana and the Riders are squarely in the line of fire. The only way to save his people may be to make the ultimate sacrifice. But first, he has to convince Ana not to follow him straight into hell.
I loved it, and that should be no surprise.  We are back in sector one with the holy bikers named Gideon's Riders.  Deacon happens to be the oldest surviving Rider, he's Gideon's right hand man he is feeling the weariness of the war.  Ana is the first female Rider, her father has trained her for this, he as also one of the founding Riders.  As a founding Rider her father was the exception, while all the men live with their feet between the world of the living and the dead, her father embraced life and had a family.  Ana is trying to be her best because she's afraid if she fails there will be no more female Riders.  I love the series due to the complex lives layered into it. I love that we are seeing a version of a dystopia where all the minorities don't disappear to help create this utopia where e don't exist.

Ana is my favorite character I have read so far, she knows and understands what it means to be the first of her kind.  This series and the stories are very well written, she creates well rounded characters that are vulnerable, strong, love able and loving.  Complex without being broken.  I absolutely loved that the small quirks of being a natural haired black woman were discussed without making it exotic or making them weird, the characters color isn't ever made as a reason for their failures or romanticized it just is.  I absolutely loved her and Deacon together, as they worked out how to balance being Riders, and how to be lovers.  Ana struggled with how to do what she loved, while knowing that she doesn't want to fail and make it easy for those who don't believe women can be Riders to point out her failures.

Ana is one of my favorite characters because she is so raw, she knows who she is and she wants to not just be the best Rider she can be, but she wants to leave a legacy for the women coming after her.  She wants the fulfilled life her parents had as well.  Some of my favorite scenes are when Ana confronts Gideon in his office; and the final battle scene when she's second guessing her decision and realizing what Gideon meant when they talked.

My least favorite part was when Ana confronted Gideon and he chewed her out in front of the team.  I also disliked because it jerked on my feels when Deacon tells his truth, I understand Gabe's reaction, but his reaction triggered Ashwin and while I get that the emotions where real, raw & really authentic, it still sucked that Ashwin was once again forced to confront his past as he tried to move on. We get to see several of the secondary characters from Sector One mostly, they were well fleshed out in their interactions with Deacon & Ana.  Other than a few characters we didn't get every one's reactions to the action unfolding.  I can't wait until we meet the other Riders more intimately.

The war maybe done but the enemies aren't all gone, just like in the first book there is a lot more going on in Sector one and around it.  This book also explores what it mean to be both warrior and lover, ho do you balance it all.  What traditions are formed and how they affect the people if those in charge try to change them.

For me the ending wasn't predictable, I mean we expected the romance but the overall mystery opened up more for us.  I can't wait to see where it goes from here.  Ivan's story should be one hell of a good read.   As I was reading I felt all the feels that they wanted you to including visceral desire, I laughed at the funny parts, I felt like the characters were real and I connected so well to them.
 ★★★★1/2☆

Synopsis:
I knew from the moment I first saw her she was the one. The only girl I could ever want. The only girl I could ever love.
She is light.
I am darkness.
She is innocent.
I’ve done too much.
She is good.
I am bad.
She is my every dream.
I should be her every nightmare.
We come from different worlds. She’s…perfect. And I’m…
Not.
Somehow she wants me anyway. So we’ll grasp at what we can. We’re going to make this summer count. She’s my secret. And I’m hers.
The problem with secrets is they never last for long. And when others discover we’re together, they’ll do whatever it takes to keep us apart. All I know is: I won’t let them.
Because Reverie Hale? She’s mine.
This so wasn't what I was expecting. Looking at the cover and knowing that Monica writes these awesome new adult books I just dived right in.  And this was more than I expected.  This book is about second chances and I thought at first it was going to be a light romance, I was not prepared for the mystery that unfolded.

Nick is freshly out of jail, while he was in there his entire life has imploded. Nick is here to stack his money, keep himself hidden and find a way to get out of the this small town that has cost him so much, he doesn't want anything to mess with his plans.  Life however kees throwing him curveballs.  One of the few things he has is his new job and the view it offers.  Then there is Reverie Hale daughter/Princess of the Hale family, sweeter than sugar, she is blind/naive sheltered and so clueless it makes your teeth hurt.

One of my favorite characters is Nick's friend Michael because he was one of the few people who was seeing things as they were.  He was also the voice of reason, he tried to show Nick all the ropes and protect Nick, but you can only protect someone as much as they will allow.  I really enjoyed how the story came together because the characters that we actually meet written pretty well.   The story is told mostly through Nick's eyes, so we only know what he knows and all we have is his perspective of the characters.  A few of the characters only grew as characters the more they interacted with Nick, otherwise they were kind of just names.

I loved that this was at the beach for summer and it was surrounded by woods that were so well described you felt like you were there at the lake having fun with them.  This book focused on the second chances that Nick needed, how much he wished he was someone who deserved Rev.  We also got the reason he ended up in prison and Rev learning to see beyond the smoke screen of her family.  I liked the story of them getting to know each other.

Going in there was no clue about the mystery.  There was no hint that there was going to be a scandal that would blow Rev and Nick apart.  My favorite part of the book of course came close to the end, Because oh my gawd what the hell was that??? How can someone be that terrible and you never see it??  There are a few things that I couldn't stand.  At times Nick's inner thoughts when it came to his ex.  He would constantly say he didn't judge her for enjoying sex but then use terms that clearly judged and slut shamed her even if it was only in his head. I also had an issue with his insistence that Rev was 'innocent'  and kept going over that description every time he thought about her.

**Bit of a Spoiler here**

Also then there is Rev, she is a Christian girl who is a part of a family that is well known in the Evangelical field.  Her father has made a big deal about her remaining a virgin until marriage and she had a huge party celebrating her pact.  *Now I personally have sooo many issues with this, but whatever do you* Yet when she breaks this pact she seems to only feel a small amount of remorse.  I know women who waited until marriage and still had issues with it since they had been pushed to hold onto this thing for so long and I know women who totally dived into being sexual beings with no issues.  I just wish that if she was written as such a strong Christian girl that she had more issues with it.

There are a few things that were left unexplained however there is a second book so I'm hoping they get solved there.  I do have a bone to pick with the genre in particular, can we have mature adults that actually adult?? It seems like the new thing is for there to be no adults in these kids lives, they either die or they are just shyt as adults.  My gawd all adults can't be this terrible.

If you enjoyed this book I highly recommend Monica's other books as well. And Chris Myers Blackout, Raine by JC Valentine is another good suggestion.

Book #Review: Ink Enduring by Carrie Ann Ryan

Book Title: Ink Enduring (Montgomery Ink 5)

Format: ebook
Cost: $4.99

Synopsis:
The Montgomery Ink series continues with a forbidden love between three friends and a past that they can’t escape. Jake Gallagher knew from the moment he saw Maya that she was the one for him—it had the same breath-taking intensity as when he’d first set eyes on Border. Only life never turns out the way one plans, and now he’s falling for someone else...or at least he thinks he is. Maya Montgomery never should have looked past the friendship she already had. Now that she has, she can’t stop thinking about Jake and what he means to her. When a mysterious stranger from Jake’s past shows up at their door, she’s forced to admit that if she doesn’t take the risk of a lifetime, she’ll regret it for the rest of her days. Border Gentry walked away without a second glance once because of what could happen if he let go, but now he’s back and ready to see what he’s missed. He’s been on the road a long time and has seen things no man should ever see, yet once he rediscovers the broody Jake and meets the inked and fierce Maya, they’re like a balm to his soul and he realizes what path his future should take. It will take more than sizzling chemistry and a heat that never dies for the three of them to overcome their pasts. And when someone from the outside wants to stand in their way, it’s not only their hearts on the line…but also their lives.

I picked this one up because I read Adoring Ink also by Carrie, and I was like holy crap hot men in love and sharing their female partner?? GIMMIE.  So I bought the whole series cause it was cheaper that way.

I went in with just basic expectations of a hot romance between three people and I semi sorta got that.  I was not happy that the erotic scenes between the men kept getting glossed over or happening off screen or we only get small moments of intimacy versus the erotics scenes between all three or when the men are with the female character.  I don't know if Carrie was just afraid to write a scene that she believed her readers might be uncomfortable with, or if she just didn't want to write a scene and mess it up and have fans come after her for that, whatever reason almost all their sex scenes were glossed over in vague terms and mentioned as something that happened often in the past.

As a trio they had really good group dynamics because Border was the stronger of the three and kept making sure to check in on everyone.  Maya's relationship with Jake just never seemed to line up at the correct time and so they settle for friendship, with lots of tension, but at least they were in each other's lives, until she realizes that Jake might actually be moving on and that scares her into acting on her emotions.

I really loved how she talked about the men going on dates, as well as the three of them going out together. I loved that it wasn't just about the sex bringing them in, as they were a bit older and were all at the point of wanting to settle down.    I really enjoyed how Carrie normalized a polyamorous relationship, and yet discussed the unique needs it had.

I liked it, I didn't love it, but would still recommend.  Erotic Rating 2.5 Stars. Not a lot of sexy times on screen, but a few intimate moments worth reading.

Synopsis:
On a moonless Navajo night, the recessed Bengal Breed known only as Judd became Cullen Maverick, grandson to one of the Chiefs of the Six Tribes of the Native Americans.

Bengal genetics, usually so fierce as to be labeled primal, was recessed so deep inside Judd that no hint of it can be found. A phenomena so rare it’s been notated only a few times. And there’s no way, it’s believed, to force those genetics free once they’ve disappeared past the genetic level.

Now, as commander of the Navajo Covert Law Enforcement Division in Window Rock, New Mexico, Cullen leads his six agents in protecting the treasures of the Navajo Tribes by ensuring they remain safely in Navajo possession.

Added to this mix is none other than the delicate Window Rock police detective determined to stick her pretty little nose in his business.

And once Cullen realized the animosity that keeps flaming between them is far more than he imagined, then the Primal Breed that’s lurked inside him comes out to play. And when that beast decides to make itself known, Cullen suddenly remembers all the reasons it was better off sleeping.
That ending??Omigawd say what?? I can't wait for the next book.  I loved this story because finally e got back to some of the first sets of Breeds, they are finally in the stories again.  This was the story of the twin to our monster and I'm so glad to be here for it because finally someone who can take on Jonas.  This story continued out journey through the reservation with the Navajo tribal leaders and their secrets, as the third and final member of the hidden group of run aways is revealed.

Judd as a Breed is deeply recessed, so much so that he doesn't believe he'll find a mate.  When presented with his mate he's not sure what he's supposed to do.  This story pivots off the story before showcasing more branches of the Breeds, more characters and an ever deepening plot against the Breeds.  Judd as a recessed Breed is missing many of the traits that would mark him as a Breed, however now that his brother is back in his life the recessed genes are coming back.  They certainly come out of hiding when his mate hands in her resignation from their joint task force and goes her own way, Judd is at first certain she's kidding but when weeks pass by and she doesn't return he's now hell bent of finding a way back to her.

Despite the changes that have taken place,  so many still plot against the Breeds and their allies and they still go after the ones they see as most vulnerable.  I love the depth of the story and the entrenching of the Breeds on the tribal lands.  I love that we're getting more from the tribes and their understanding of what happened to their own and have the returning sons and daughters of the missing.

This story jerked your emotions right from the get go because Chelsea is one hell of a woman, she's trained well and she takes on a contingent of Coyotes and kicks butt in the process.  Her reason for doing so though will definitely make you want to cry.  her family life, her cousin who was once married to Judd give Chelsea pause, she doesn't wish to be seen as going after her cousin's husband (even though her cousin is dead).  It always surprised me how much hate and hurt can fill someone so that they scar people even when they aren't around anymore.  I absolutely loved the developing love story, I understand why it took so long for them to come together especially because of their past.  I loved seeing the secondary characters especially Cassie, Gideon's always fun to read because crazy knows no bounds with this one.

I love the love story and I loved how much of the world we got to see, how much growth that has happened and of course how much more will be happening.  I want to see  so many more stories coming from the world.    There are characters and stories being shared like we've always seen them, but they haven't had a story yet.  I feel like a book was supposed to come out that didn't because this one alpha come out of nowhere. I'm intrigued by his story though because we've been getting in it from the books as we go along instead of him getting his own novella.

Next books is Cassie's and I want to predict her mate as Dog but Lora don't care about our feelings so Goddess only knows who it's going to be.
 ★★★★★
I highly recommend and of course
Happy Reading my loves,

Synopsis:
He was a shadow, ever shifting and insinuating, able to blend in everywhere and anywhere. The elusive ideal conceived and created by the Genetics Council, he went by just as many names as he had identities—the last one being Gideon. Now calling himself Graeme, he hides in plain sight, terrifyingly close to his goal. A rogue Bengal Breed, he has loyalties to no one but himself. And he has a need for vengeance that surges hot and swift through his veins. Graeme plans to exact an extreme and ruthless vendetta against those who wronged him—Breed and human alike. All will suffer his wrath: those who created him, those who pretended to love him, and those who betrayed him. That includes the one at the center of it all: a seductive, enigmatic woman helpless against the man whose desire is just as desperate as his need to destroy. And he’s on her scent…
This has been the story we have been building up to for a while, Gideon/Graeme was seen in several novels as he was one of the Breeds missing that night in Window Roch Arizona.  He's a twin, a rare Bengal Breed who is also fully Primal and he's the genius who challenged Jonas and really made Jonas work for his solution.

I enjoyed reading their motivations I truly loved Cat/Claire and felt so empathetic towards her, she struggled for so long. In this one we get the background story on Cat/Claire and Gideon. We learn how they all come to be in Arizona and the deepening connection the Breeds have to the Navajo Nation. For me the push and pull between Cat/ Claire and Gideon/ Graeme as they learned to navigate being ho they should be in public and ho they truly are on the inside was fun to read.  Gideon was the Primal side of Graeme he was the 'monster' hunting int he desert and ending the enemies who were a risk to his mate.  He was also hunting said mate as he made himself leave her behind on that fateful night several years ago.

We learned several things that are opening up new lines of characters, stories and of course even more about the Genetics Council and the newest Breeds they have been creating.  Once again we have the characters from several books ago who still haven't had any female characters, nor have they had any story lines show back up, they have been working in the back ground apparently even though they haven't been seen in any of the bocks.  We learned also to never underestimate the Elders from the reservation, so much is going on under the surface that not even all the Nation's council members are aware of this is both good and bad.  And the Breeds certainly have no idea just how far these men will go to hang onto the children they loved.

There are several parts of this book that made me laugh and many more that I enjoyed.  Some of my personal favorites are when Amber tells on Jonas, when Graeme comes face to face with Killian and when Cat defies him leading to him meeting Killian. There are so many defining moments for the characters as well. As the past is unravelled and we learn why Gideon became a monster, and why they had to hide, it hurts to realize even those that claim to be on the side of good aren't always as good as they should be.

While reading this book, like most of the books in this series, my emotions were all over the place, but I felt so much empathy for Cat, especially because she never felt right in her new home.  Her sense of deep loss which drove her to make her decisions, and then the hiding of the deepest part of who she was really impacted her.  I loved the conversations she would have with her host and the way the host was still very much her own character.

I feel like I'm always saying that the end isn't predictable and it isn't I mean we know the main couple is going to get together, that's the major plot point but there are so many more minor that later turn out to not be so minor subplots going on that pull you in and keep you intrigued.  I did feel like the Elders are being way too deceptive in their dealings with the Breeds, I understand why they feel they have to be that way but at the same time it creates a clear divide one that's going to come to a head at some point and it's not going to be pretty.

There are a few subplots that I hope she pulls on and gives us the full stories in their own books eventually.  I do understand that according to rumors that Cassie's book will be the finale, and that just doesn't seem fair, there are so many more stories that aren't complete.
