Synopsis:
Gideon Cross. As beautiful and flawless on the outside as he was damaged and tormented on the inside. He was a bright, scorching flame that singed me with the darkest of pleasures. I couldn't stay away. I didn't want to. He was my addiction... my every desire... mine. My past was as violent as his, and I was just as broken. We’d never work. It was too hard, too painful... except when it was perfect. Those moments when the driving hunger and desperate love were the most exquisite insanity. We were bound by our need. And our passion would take us beyond our limits to the sweetest, sharpest edge of obsession..

I gave it this rating because Eva whined too much in the beginning.  Eva, at the start of this book reverted back to the insecure, "lets run away even though we had moved past this phase already" girl. And it annoyed me so much as I was reading. Like didn't we deal with this five minutes ago??  With that Eva's character annoyed me for about half the book, I guessed before it was revealed who made her mother sick.  I'm not sure I her relationship with Cary; it's just this side of being extremely co~dependent and certainly not really good for him or her.  He seemed more than ever to be holding her back especially when she has to intervene and try to save him from himself more than once.

Out of the three books so far this has to be the most useless one.  It almost didn't add anything to the story until about half way through then the story got back on track and we began to advance beyond the contrived and childish actions. At page 44 I was screaming at Eva, WHY??? Isn't  this more about your insecurities than about the facts?? He's right if you don't/can't trust him nothing else matters.  And at this moment you proved you don't at all trust him.

I'm glad she began being her, more as the story moved on the couple's therapy sessions were good but they both refused to talk; sooooo..... how is this helping??

Eventually some really good stuff happens and I'm once again hooked to the story of Eva and Gideon especially when I noticed how similar to another favorite character he was ( I mean the book is dedicated to Nora, so yeah that was a huge clue). I peeped it right before she started calling him Ace and when she started reading the book to him I just knew!!   The one thing I can say is that the relationship may be crazy but the love making was on point!! OMG Sylvia writes amazing scenes.

All in all, still a worth while read still just a little on the slow side to get started. The lowest stars among the series for me because there was too much unnecessary drama in the first half of the book.  Eva wasn't the Eva from the first book, she completely 'bratted out' and he never Dom'd her ass into submission. 0_0

P.S. If someone has pictures to blackmail you with, especially if they are in it...it's considered a CONFESSION!!! And confession trumps embarrassment a thousand percent.  That's how they could have handled that, but that's just me.

Check Out my review of Book One, make sure to come back and check out Book Three's review!!

Synopsis:
Love or life. Henry or their child. The end of her family or the end of the world. Kate must choose. During nine months of captivity, Kate Winters has survived a jealous goddess, a vengeful Titan and a pregnancy she never asked for. Now the Queen of the Gods wants her unborn child, and Kate can't stop her--until Cronus offers a deal. In exchange for her loyalty and devotion, the King of the Titans will spare humanity and let Kate keep her child. Yet even if Kate agrees, he'll destroy Henry, her mother and the rest of the council. And if she refuses, Cronus will tear the world apart until every last god and mortal is dead. With the fate of everyone she loves resting on her shoulders, Kate must do the impossible: find a way to defeat the most powerful being in existence, even if it costs her everything. Even if it costs her eternity
A wonderful conclusion to the series.  The way last book ended I couldn't wait to jump into this one, I mean really who saw that coming?? I'm so upset at this people involved (if you haven't read it I'm trying not to spoil it for you).
Once again Kate faces a choice, that let's face it isn't really a choice.  Having been betrayed by a close friend, and held against her will Kate tries to harness her powers and get to and stay strong for Henry.  An old enemy has returned and brought with them on of the Original Gods Cronus.  Yes that Cronus the one it took the entire counsel of Gods to put down; he's back for vengeance and he's going to use Kate to begin it.  As a villian Cronus is pretty damn crazy, I mean a man who would do what he did because Kate wouldn't do what he wanted her to do immediately?? Yeah he shouldn't be allowed to rule anything!!!

Poor Henry, every time he glimpses happiness someone does something to snatches it from him.  Caught in a game he has no control over, his enemies are to powerful and they hold all the cards at the moment.  How can he hope to win??  He's left to struggle with his previous beliefs, what others are trying to tell him and what his heart hopes for.  I loved reading Hades as this character, he was so nuanced and well rounded and I loved him!!

The answers are beautifully written. I loved catching back up  with Kate,Henry and their friends.  I didn't see the betrayal coming that took place in Goddess Interrupted, and to thing the level of power used to make it happen all because of jealousy, seriously who does all of that because you are happy and they aren't???  I wasn't totally angry once I understood the true motivations for Ava's betrayal and each character had different difficult choices, and each brought with it it's own challenges and emotional fallout.

I loved this book, I did want more from the story, not because it wasn't good, but because I didn't want it to end.  I can't believe it's done but I enjoyed reading it and must say Aimee is a wonderful author.
 ★★★★☆
The way it ended just showcases Kate's incredible capacity for love and forgiveness. I'm not so sure I would have and makes me wonder if after that counsel meeting it means Aimee is going to write another story told from someone elses POV.  It should be entertaining to read if she does it.  I loved the retelling of Persephone's story, it was a refreshing take and wonderfully written.

I highly recommend this book and the series

Synopsis:
Kate Winters has won immortality. But if she wants a life with Henry in the Underworld, she'll have to fight for it. Becoming immortal wasn't supposed to be the easy part. Though Kate is about to be crowned Queen of the Underworld, she's as isolated as ever. And despite her growing love for Henry, ruler of the Underworld, he's becoming ever more distant and secretive. Then, in the midst of Kate's coronation, Henry is abducted by the only being powerful enough to kill him: the King of the Titans. As the other gods prepare for a war that could end them all, it is up to Kate to save Henry from the depths of Tartarus. But in order to navigate the endless caverns of the Underworld, Kate must enlist the help of the one person who is the greatest threat to her future. Henry's first wife, Persephone.

OMGosh!! Rarely have I read Young Adult that has me so emotionally invested in the story.  I truly enjoyed being back in the story.  I love Kate and Henry together. although most of the book was spent with Kate coming to grips with her new role and her new responsibilities.

She also had to combat the ghost of her predecessor figuratively and physically.  There were moments I really wanted to slap her especially when she did exactly what they asked her NOT to do.  Kate's self esteem is a problem because it lead her into doing so many things because she couldn't believe that Henry really wanted her.  I mean I totally get it but how many times does he have to say it and show if before it clicks that he's not lying??

So many times in the book things would have gone better if she simply didn't assume, but then we wouldn't really have a story then huh?? The progress of the story was good, fast paced and really drew you in.  The ultimate betrayal at the end??!!! Yeah never saw it coming.

I purchased the other books in the series so I have no waiting period before I find out what really happens to Kate, Henry and everyone else.

Rule Breaker by Lora Leigh
Lion Breed, Rule Breaker had just a few rules he didn't break. Not for anything. Not for anyone. #1. Never have sex with a woman outside his own subspecies, especially a human woman. #2. Never, at any time, accept a mission concerning a female when Jonas Wyatt stinks of a lie. #3. Run don't walk, skip or stumble. Run, hell for leather away from any female, human or breed, when his desire for her appears, in any way, to have so much as a single sign of Mating Heat. Now, the woman believes he's mated, is too helpless, to fun loving and too full of life to ever be able to protect herself, let alone aide him in protecting her. If the damned animal inside him insisted on a mate, then why pick the woman it did? One that could be struck out at, at any time? But, what he suspected was a mating, may not be. No swollen glands? No heat? Just his animal instincts rioting, pacing, irritated whenever he's away from her. Okay, he could handle that. What ensues is a fiery affair that breaks all the rules of mating heat and will eventually endanger his mate with the very rules designed to protect the breeds when Jonas learns she's possibly been working against them.

What an introduction!! Some of the Gods I didn't guess until the last or until the reveal from each character.  And the killer?? Yeah I so didn't see it coming it either; talk about keeping enemies close.

I really liked hate as a character, she was convincing enough as a modern character thrown into the Greek World.  I enjoyed the host of characters, as well as the glossary at the back of the book (because I wouldn't have know who was who without it).  Calliope was the hardest to guess for me.

The challenges she faced were sometimes astronomically but she totally conducted herself well.  I loved her decision and the end. Totally a fair method of punishment if you asked me.  Ava had to be the easiert to guess, and I loved how she helped Kate develop.

Poor Kate, her desperate fear of being alone put her is some sticky spots.the "how Henry finds out" so heartbreaking.  He's so afraid all because of Persephone.. Le Damn....  I can't wait to read the other books.  This series is so good!!

It's a solid read.  I'm going to get the series for my shelves.

Synopsis:
When a giant nor’easter dumps a blanket of snow on the village of Dunwich, Massachussetts, Robert Arthur and his friends find themselves marooned inside Lovecraft Middle School. The kids have no choice but to spend the night—while snacking on cafeteria food, sleeping on classroom floors, and facing off against a mysterious substitute teacher who may have a sinister secret. The latest adventure in the Lovecraft Middle School series features more adventures, more outrageous monsters, and another terrifying lenticular cover!

Rated for middle grade,  but I would make sure they are old enough to understand that this is just a story and not take ideas from it. I would say upper middle school.  The cover is the biggest selling point for me personally, I just love the awesome changing photos.

This is a good little book.. I haven't read the other books in the series, but now I'm intrigued I so want to read them now.  Clearly a book you have had to have read the first few books to understand all the relationships and the background stories.  To truly get it as well as to truly love the characters and understand the whole cast.  Even though the author was great at linking in the previous stories.

I enjoyed the story, the little turns and mysteries even though I guessed many of them I would totally see why young kids would love this series. I loved the story, the mystery and the bravery, even the hard choice Robert had to make and how beautifully the 'don't judge because you don't know someone elses journey" point that was being made.  The pictures helped to draw you in and truly made the story; they also served to break up the story and make the points beautifully.

Well written, engaging and makes you want to dive back in, these should be a great hit among it's intended audience.
 ★★★★☆
I enjoyed it and will be getting the actual books including the previous ones.
Happy Reading, this series is a cute little creepy series.

In My Mailbox (IMM 1)

In My Mailbox is a weekly meme hosted by Kristi, the Story Siren, You can learn how to joinhere This is a chance to show the books that have come to you via the post, your email or from the library.  It's a way to highlight books even if you never get to review them.

Yes I am well aware I shouldn't be posting another one of these. In my defense I ordered these before I went on the ban on Jan 15th and I'm only now getting them. (I'm cheap what can I say I don't like paying a lot for shipping).

From Amazon:
From BookOutlets
NetGalley/Publishers:This week has been an awesome week for me, I got several invites and received a wonderful array of books I'm so excited to read and share with you.

My first read this week was Trust by Sherri Hayes, to say I squealed, screamed and happy danced around my room is not even a full description of the craziness that happened when I was approved for this.
Brianna is lost for the fourth time in her life. Each time was unexpected, and each changed the course of her future. The first life-altering event occurred when her mother died, and she moved to Minnesota to live with her father. The second was when she was kidnapped at the age of seventeen and forced to be a slave. She would never forget those ten months. Brianna thought her life was over. Everything changed again the day Stephan steamrolled into her life and brought her home to live with him. She had no idea what to expect—what life with her new Master would hold. That first month with Stephan was, in some ways, more confusing than the prior ten. As a slave, she’d known her place. With Stephan everything was new and different. He’d given her freedom and so much more. Five months after Stephan rescued her, Brianna once again finds her life flipped upside down. In this fourth, and final, installment of Finding Anna, Brianna must unearth strength she never knew she possessed. Stephan can no longer protect her from the outside world. She must learn to trust herself, embrace who she is, and discover who she wants to be. Only by facing her demons can Brianna find true happiness and peace.
The next piece of awesomeness to show up at my home has been from Harlequin and to say I freaked a little. Anytime I get books from Harlequin I want to dance then dive right in. I got these two and I don't know which I want to read more.
Subject: Navy SEAL Petty Officer Brody Lane Current Status: On leave Obstacle: The one girl who was off-limits… Where navy SEAL "Bad Ass" Brody Lane goes, trouble follows. Being run out of his hometown years ago for misbehaving with Genna Reilly—the sheriff's daughter—was one thing. Now Brody is about to step into real danger. Not the suggestive letters he's been exchanging with Genna, but the kind of trouble that can send a soldier home injured and broken inside… Genna's entire life has been orchestrated by her family. The right job. The right friends. Enough! Brody's return offers the promise of lust-filled pleasures. Of flesh teased and tasted. She's not expecting to find a soldier with distant eyes who has secluded himself from the world. But this good girl knows exactly how to bring a bad boy back to life…. Uniformly Hot! The Few. The Proud. The Sexy as Hell
And then there is the second one
Years ago, Will Cash wasn't interested in being a dad. So Marsha Bugler left town to raise her baby alone. But when her father's health begins to fail, she realizes she needs to return to Arizona—and introduce Will to his boy. Marsha is nervous to face Will not only because she lied, but because she's never stopped thinking about her cowboy crush.  Will is shocked to discover he has a son. And he can hardly believe the changes in Marsha. She's strong, sexy and a Ph.D. while Will's still a part-time cowboy living in a bunkhouse with his brothers. What does he have to offer her and his teenage son? Will has a lot to prove if he's going to get what he wants—the family he never knew he had.
Then of course came some naughty fun from Tiffany Reisz called Misbehaving
Wanted: Adventurous, open-minded man willing to try anything… As a popular sex blogger, Beatriz gets paid to have orgasms. So being on deadline the week of her sister’s wedding isn’t as rough as it sounds. The bad news: Ben turned down Bea’s offer of graduation night sex five years ago. The best news: He’s not planning on making the same mistake twice.

Then because she must know how much I love and need her awesomeness in my life, Erin McCarthy is coming out with a new book and we all need to be reading it.
Robin used to be a party girl… until she got black out drunk and woke up in bed with her best friend's boyfriend. Now she's faced with being THAT girl, and couldn't be more disgusted with herself. She can't even tell her friends the reason for her sudden sobriety and she avoids everyone until she meets Phoenix—quiet, tattooed, and different in every way that's good and oh, so bad… Phoenix is two days out of jail when he meets Robin at his cousin's house, and he knows that he has no business talking to her, but he's drawn to her quiet demeanor, sweet smile, and artistic talent. She doesn't care that he's done time, or that he only has five bucks to his name, and she supports his goal to be a tattoo artist. But Phoenix knows Robin has a secret, and that it's a naïve dream to believe that his record won't catch up with them at some point. Though neither is prepared for the explosive result when the past collides with the present…

Synopsis:
The third installment of the Finding Anna Series. For the last two months, Brianna has discovered something she never thought she would again. Hope. After the horror of being Ian’s slave for ten months, a fate she never imagined she’d escape, it feels as if she is living a dream. She has freedom she hadn’t expected to have again, and she wakes up every morning not fearing what the day will bring. There is also Stephan. The man who saved her from the daily torture she had to endure at the hands of Ian and his friends. The same man who makes her heart race with just the thought of him. Life is good. Outside forces are determined to conspire against them, however. When Brianna’s father shows up on her doorstep, it sends her world spiraling out of control. He brings with him new information about how Brianna ended up in Ian’s clutches, but will it make a difference? Will Stephan be able to find a way to make Ian pay for all he made Brianna suffer? As Brianna and Stephan try to find out the truth, their relationship is tested. She is forced to face her past head on, and deal with the ugly reality of what happened to her. Will Stephan’s love be enough to see her through her newest challenge, or will the fragile trust they’ve built come crumbling down around them as the truth makes itself known

Nooooooo this heartless woman is leaving me on the hooks again. *starts frantically looking for info on next book* I need the next book. *sobs* when does the next book come out???? Whhhyyyyyy??    Ok Ok I'm going to stop the hysterics. I'm ...I'm just so ...OMGAWD I loved this book!!!

Stephen is such a caring Dom, one how wants so much to make Anna's life better, to make up for all she's had to deal with before Him.  At the end of book two Need, Anna opened the door to her father, this book picks up right at that moment.  What happens next is both heartbreaking and so emotive at the same time.

As the book goes along we get pulled deeper into their relationship and the ups and downs Anna & Stephen face.  For Anna almost everyday is a struggle but the longer she's with Stephen the more good days she has.

I'm so in love with these characters, the depth, their joys, the wanting to be together despite Everyone and everything being against them. I love watching them grow and change, progressing from the first book to here is just so amazing. I can't wait to read the next book to find out what happens and where they go from here.

Because once again Sherri jerked our emotions around, made us care and then LEFT us hanging. *sobs*
Happy Reading
